It was the worst experience ever!

My mom and i went to this salon. I did perm and my mom too. OH MY GOODNESS. It was the worst experience ever!! My mom looked 10yrs older and we went back immediately to redo but the boss - michelle - kept insisting on her way and how she likes the style & how we were not "doing it right". Seriously! After i left the shop, my curls immediately died. What kind of volume rebonding and perm is this! We paid $680 for such a lousy hair do! I will not recommend this place!

Bad after care service

Did perm, the curls did not last for more than a few days. Called back about 2 wks later to request for a redo. Receptionist – Diana insisted that I go down for a review and was told that i have to pay for wash & blow if i have a re-perm. claims that their policy is to feedback within a week. I told receptionist that I was not informed at the point of paying., so Jiwon should not charged me if re-do is done. I insisted the receptionist to confirm if charges will be impose on me before i go down, else it will be a waste of my time. However the receptionist raised her voice and said “I do not want to waste our time too!”

Jiwon being a so call reputable salon do not even have the basic training in customer service for their receptionist!

I would not recommend Jiwon as their standard is bad, high charges for their service and they do not provide any good after care service.

Not used to my type of hair

I had my hair rebonded at Ji Won Hair Salon @ Wheelock Place. The woman who did my hair seemed to know what she was doing, but she employed a young helper (a guy) who did half of my hair, while she did the other half. She was busy that day with other customers, coming and going and letting her younger helper take over at a certain point. I don't know whom of the two made the mistake, but it was DISASTROUS. They left the product too long, which in effect burned my hair (made it very frizzy). Thankfully, they had only added the product from the root to about half way down my hair so the ends were fine. However, I have been having to deal with this extremely frizzy hair since then. If I want my hair straight, I now have to blow dry it and iron it. But the real problem is that the hair is so damaged that two different hairdressers have told me that if I don't want to lose all of my hair in a month, I need to stop blow drying it, ironing it, and preferably even combing it (I know, try and imagine that!!). I did go back to Ji Won a couple of weeks later after it happened, but they first denied seeing any problem with my hair and when they did realize, they offered a revitalizing treatment that was great for a week but did nothing to help my hair long term. What really got to me is that they didn't even apologize (an apology would really have gone a long way). Anyway, I would recommend any friend against going to Ji Won for a Japanese straightening/ rebonding. I am a Westerner so it may be that they were not used to my type of hair although they never said that to me. Either way my hair has been pretty much destroyed and I have been told I'll have to wait about two years for it to grow out enough so that I can get a bob (short haircut). What a disaster!!

Most awful haircut + hair "volume rebonding"

This was the worst, most awful haircut + hair "volume rebonding" I've ever done. Despite advertising that they do offer volume rebonding on their website and over the phone when I made my appt, my stylist said no, they didn't offer that service. Fine. He then offered to "volume perm" my hair? which resulted in horribly crimped hair at the top of my head. TOTALLY DAMAGED MY HAIR. Paid $500 in total. a real wtf?! experience. Never setting foot in this place ever again.

Blotchy and uneven

I had coloring done and it was blotchy and uneven. My haircut was poorly done. I had to go back for a retouch of color and they didn't use Aveda the second time. Horrible experience and I will not go back.

Good Day!

The result of my 4 1/2 hour volume rebonding session at Ji Won Korean Hair Studio @ Wheelock Place was a great. Exactly what I wanted :) I prefer this salon over NEXT hair salon now.

No student price under 18

I trimmed my fringe at Ji Won. It is a Korean hair salon at Wheelock Place. Actually, I wanted to do a full hair cut. But I wasn't entitled to the student hair price ($45) because I am no longer under 18! :(

If you need a haircut in Singapore . . .

If you need a haircut in Singapore . . .
. . . I can recommend one.

A much needed haircut was one of the items on my to-do list which didn’t get done before leaving home.

With a couple of hours to kill before meeting friends for dinner I went in search of a hair salon in Singapore. I had the luck to find one which gave me the best hair wash I’ve ever had.

It took more than 15 minutes, involved a lot of scalp massage and finished with a hot towel round the neck.

Bliss.

The stylist then took over and spent the best part of 45 minutes trimming, drying and trimming some more. It cost only $S50 which is less than I’ve paid for a haircut and wash which takes half the time at home.

If you have a spare hour in Singapore and your hair needs attention I can recommend Jessie at the Jiwon Hair Salon, 501 Orchard Road.
