Allongee Japanese Lash Extension Salon Balanced Agent G's Uneven Double Eyelid - Single Eyelid Problem... in time for her Birthday!

Published on Jun 05, 2019

Hello, I'm Agent G, Chief Editor of Beauty Undercover.

Those who read what I write will know that I'm often a proponent for natural beauty or non-permanent enhancements like hair colour, perms as well as facials. Yes, there are aesthetic services that can alter your appearance in a flash but I feel that many come with permanent side effects that are harder to deal with. That's why I try to find non-permanent alternatives to surgery as far as possible.

One of the things I am terribly insecure about is my eyes; I always tell my husband - if there is one aesthetic service I succumb to, it's gonna be eyelid surgery.

Asymmetrical Eyes

Look at how asymmetrical my eyes are!

It's OKAY that my eyes are small. I can accept that but at least, make them symmetrical!

One of my eyes has inner double-eyelid while the other is single-lidded. The makeup artists who do makeup for me during wedding / family photoshoots always have trouble balancing my eyes. If the professionals find it tough, can you imagine how difficult it is for me?

When I shared about my problem to a friend of mine, she introduced me to Allongee Beauty Design. Apparently, there is a eye-list in the Japanese lash extension salon that is really good at doing lash extensions for single-lidded ladies, Ayaka. When I heard about this non-permanent option, I was excited to give it a go before my birthday getaway in April... especially because their prices isn't that expensive!

I met Ayaka for the first time then.

Ayaka herself has single eye-lids but it isn't obvious because her lash extensions are so pretty!

She gave me a consultation paper to fill in so that she could understand more about me before we began.

Once the paper was completed, Ayaka went through my responses.

Ayaka also took note of my eye shape as well as growth pattern of my natural lashes.

Then she shared her opinions with me.

Ayaka suggests for me to get CC curl volume lash with length ranging from 9mm to 12mm as I wear spectacles most of the time.

Ayaka explained that since my eyes have different shapes and sizes, she will have to arrange the lashes differently to balance them out.

The single-lidded eye will look more like cat-eye to add length to the eyes and emphasize the eye shape

The double lidded eye will have more of a natural eye shape to balance out the shape with the mono-lid.

It sounds really good so I couldn't wait for her to begin!

FYI, she required a bit of translation help from Kayo during the consultation, another Japanese eye-list, who is more fluent in English. Still, her explanation was detailed and you can tell she really knows what she's talking about!

Step 1: Prepping and Cleansing

I was then brought into the treatment space where I could just lie down, close my eyes, and relax.

The beds are separated into cubicles and still give sufficient privacy although it was not in a closed room.

She got me settled into the very comfy bed and explained what she was about to do.

First, she carefully covered the area around my lashes with an easily removable sticker to demarcate the area for lash extensions.

Ayaka then cleaned my eyelashes carefully with Q-tips.

Don't underestimate this step... proper cleansing is essential for the glue and hence lash extension to last long on the eyelashes.

Step 2: Testing for Lash Extension

Once they were clean and bare, the fun could begin.

Before she went full on though, Ayaka applied just a few lash extensions to see if the recommended shape and length is okay for me.

Ayaka very gently and precisely applied glue to a few lashes and put them on.

She gave me a mirror to show me how it will roughly look.

Step 3: Completing the Lash Extension

I laid back down as she continued applying the lash extensions.

Look how precise she was!

She applied each lash extension strand by strand on each of my natural lash.

Applying one by one is safer and less damaging than applying cluster lashes. Cluster lashes pull on your existing lash when some of the lashes fall off, causing more damage to your existing lashes.

Even though this process takes a longer time, she was super gentle so I actually dozed off.

After about 1 hour, Ayaka used a mobile fan to dry the lashes.

Then, she passed me a mirror so I could see the final look!

Love how it adds length and volume without being too in-your-face!

Step 3: Caring for the lashes

Before I could go and show it off, Ayaka walked me through some home care tips.

She reminded me that it is not advisable for me to use cleansing milk or oil based facial cleanser as that will cause the lash glue to come off quickly. She showed me two alternatives that she uses on her own to make sure that the lash extension last longer... basically micellar water without alcohol!

She also gave me instructions to maintain the lashes e.g. washing the face gently, using lash brush and not rubbing eyes against towel and so on.

She even taught me how to draw my eyeliner easily!

Overall Thoughts

I really enjoyed my time at Allongee Beauty Design. I've tried a few lash therapists but few are like Ayaka - a Japanese eye-list who goes out of her way to make sure that the experience is a good one. She's not only skillful, she does her best to explain what she's doing and even share as much about after-care as she can. There is also zero hardselling and the entire salon just feels comfortable although its not the most luxurious I've been.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, they made my eyes look REALLY GOOD! Ayaka didn't just make my lashes look more voluminous and longer; she managed to balance the uneven eyes that have caused me much grief.

Thanks to her, I can sleep with and wake up with beautiful lashes right out of bed!

That's what I did on my birthday trip to Mount Bromo (Yes I had to wake up at 3am)

With lash extensions, I don't need to apply mascara and my lashes will still look good.

*Sorry ah, the lash extensions can't help my lousy eyeliner application skills haha*

Thank YOU Ayaka for giving me the best birthday gift this year! <3
