Hair is a tricky business. With hair framing 80% of our faces, it can either be a bold statement of individualism or a red flag that we are having trouble managing our lives.
Is it then a surprise to find many of us turning to easy-to-manage sleek straight hair over the past 2 years?
Rebonding specialists Do My Hair Salon @ Orchard Central shares with us that straightening has turned out to be a life-saver for many of us trying to cope with the additional stress of COVID and balancing between work and home.
Since COVID started, we've seen a huge increase in customers requesting for volume rebonding. Our customers tell us that ever since they rebonded their hair with us, they can look presentable and head to their first zoom meeting within 10 minutes of waking up - without having to worry about how bad they look. ~ Celia from Do My Hair Salon @ Orchard Central
Does it mean that everyone is sporting the same old straight flat hair though?
Ah, rebonding technology has advanced so much that it no longer creates the stick-straight hair we see previously. In fact, what we try to do is to customize the hairstyle to each customer. We do so by varying their haircut, length and even adding curls at the right place to give it that extra volume and where possible, make our customers' face look slimmer. ~ Ivy from Do My Hair Salon @ Orchard Central
Ah, with the extra effort they put in, we now understand why Do My Hair Salon @ Orchard Central has been so popular for rebonding lately!
Want to know how stylists at Do My Hair Salon @ Orchard Central customize the rebonding style to make every customer look sleek and stylish? Read on to find out.
Many ladies who come to us to straighten their hair for the first time have very long hair over their back. If the hair is merely rebonded with a one-length haircut, you will tend to find the hair weighing your face down and looking really flat. ~ Renee, Do My Hair Salon @ Orchrad Central
If you want to maintain the length, what we tend to do is to a layered U shape cut which will help make the hair feel lighter. We will then rebond your roots and add some curls at the end to add some character to your hair. ~ Renee, Do My Hair Salon @ Orchard Central
The result? A feminine vibe that is still as easy to manage. As hair is straight at the top, much of your hair will look presentable on Zoom on the occasions you have to turn on your cams.
Pair it with the right dress and you've got a versatile look that is both work and date-friendly - without much maintenance!
If however you've bleached your hair before, it may not be ideal to go for a perm.
Excessive damage may fry your hair and even cause it to melt. To prevent that from happening, a simple soft rebonding to ensure that the hair curls in may be sufficient.
We may also recommend a treatment like the Tokio Inkarami as a pre and post treatment to strengthen the hair and give it shine. ~ Renee from Do My Hair Salon @ Orchard Central
The second group of people who come to us are those with off-shoulder length hair. For this group, S curls may not work so well as the curls tend to look somewhat awkward at this length. The weight of off-shoulder hair is also not enough to weigh down the curls.
Yet, straight hair at the ends and poofy hair at the roots just doesn't work so well.
What we recommend instead is a layered cut and a slight perm of the hair around your face to give that soft curl to better frame your face. Say yes to slimmer face!
Look at how sleek she looks afterwards?
We find that C Curl rebonding works really well for those with mild / medium waves as we tend to use low-damage rebonding creams for this purpose.
In addition, the C curl ends also require some sort of a perm. Hence it also requires your hair to be healthy enough to hold up the curls without looking frizzy.
Even if your hair is not healthy enough to go for a perm, don't worry!
The stylists here will be able to customize the cut in such a way to emulate the effect of a C-Curl rebonding.
Once shaped properly with a haircut, straight can be beautiful too!
We often see ladies with long hair going for rebonding but did you know that you can rebond short hair too?
This is one of the things that help Do My Hair Salon @ Orchard Central stand out, I think? A good short hair rebonding requires you to be really good in haircuts and combine it with rebonding skill to achieve the beautiful bobs you have in your head. ~ Celia at Do My Hair Salon @ Orchard Central
According to Celia, the best short hair rebonding combines both the cut and rebonding to achieve the desired style. Short hairstyles should be too straight / flat as some level of texture is important to give you the much-desired chic vibe.
To toe the right balance between manageability and style, we use low-damage rebonding lotions like Tokio Design or MUCOTA Algana to straighten hair at low temperatures. This way, the hair remains voluminous and healthy even after rebonding. ~ Ivy, Do My Hair Salon @ Orchard Central
Look how sleek the lob looks!
As usual, we recommend customers to add on a treatment like Tokio Inkarami. It goes a long way to strengthen your hair and reduce damage, so your hair remains healthy and frizz-free afterwards. ~ Renee, Do My Hair Salon @ Orchard Central
