Hi, I'm Agent J. I'm a full time student but I work in Public Relations for one of Singapore's leading clubs.
How my hair looks is important to me because it sets the entire feel for how my outfit would look. I usually keep my hair long so I don't have to go for a haircut too often. Hair colour though is different. A splash of colour can draw attention to the right places so yep, I've tried almost every funky colour you can think of. Sometimes, I even do that on my own. I've tried dying a mix of purple and blue on my hair - blue and green, blonde, grey and also the mainstream brown.
This is how my hair looks like now:
Not the best of condition I know and if you look closely, the colour can be patchy at times. Due to the DIY attempts, it can be really difficult for hairstylists to handle my hair, especially because I've coloured it dark not too long ago.
With the festive season coming, I thought that I should probably do something to brighten my hair a little. I chatted with my friend about it and she recommended me to try her regular hair salon, Full House Salon. My friend raved about how Full House Salon is damn awesome with hair colours, no matter how difficult it is and very coindentally, they are looking for a hair model for the newest hair colour brand Guy Tang #mydentity. This is the first time I've heard of #mydentity but with such high praises, why not?
I made an appointment with Full House on a weekday afternoon.
The stylist I was assigned to is Natalie. As I was late, the boss Samantha came over and helped with the consultation first.
Don't you think she's super pretty?
She took a look at my hair condition and asked me some questions about my hair history and preferences. I'm basically very flexible at work and in school so any brighter colour can do... although I did colour my hair dark a few months ago.
She mentioned that bleaching may be challenging but she will do whatever it takes to achieve a beautiful result for me.
I didn't have any idea of the colour I wanted in my mind but no worries, Samantha and Natalie got it all in their head. After discussing together, they suggested a pink, rose gold gradation. I've never managed to get that bright before so that was something that sounds good to me.
So let's go!
Bleaching was the first process. She used the stronger, faster Big 9 bleach from Guy Tang #mydentity series to start the bleaching process.
Being very experienced in colouring, Natalie shared that the Big9 Mydentity bleach cream actually processes really quickly and thoroughly, meaning that the bleaching process can be faster than usual!
The only problem was that my hair was coloured quite unevenly previously due to my DIY attempts. Hence, a few more applications of the bleach is required to even the hair colour out.
After application, Natalie wrapped my hair in plastic wrap to speed up the process.
As mentioned, one time of bleach is not enough.
I had to bleach my hair again to achieve the light pastel pink design for me.
By now, I've been sitting here for a few hours but what to do, beauty takes time!
Finally, it was time for a wash and
To make sure that I don't experience scalp sensitivity, Natalie applied scalp protector for my scalp
and bleached my roots one last time.
This helps to ensure that the colour would match perfectly as roots.
Time for the wash!
My hair looks really platinum now.
The sky had turned dark but now my hair is finally ready for a coat of colour!
Natalie used different levels of the rose gold colour to achieve different tones of the same colour to allow for smoother blending. all in different cups.
One more scalp protector before we begin.
There she goes!
With peach at the roots and slight purple at the ends for a more pastel look.
The different sections of colour looks so pretty!
After the sections are properly coloured, she blended them all for a smoother transition.
Finally, it was time for the last wash of the day.
Here's a sneak peak!
To complete the look, Samantha helped me to trim my hair slightly.
Just a reminder of how I looked like previously:
And now after:
Here's how it looks right after blowdrying.
Not sure if the white dress played a part but the bubblegum rose hair definitely added a divine, almost celestial quality to the overall look.
And now after styling:
The bubblegum rose is so gorgeous, I got lots of compliments on the night itself.
Just hoping it will last!
The entire process took really long. I stayed in the salon from about 12pm to 10+ pm due to the many rounds of bleaches required to remove the dark hair colour on my hair previously.
I can honestly say though, the results were super worth it.
This is how my hair looked like a month after the hair colour:
No, no touch ups at all.
Except for the hair colour regrowth, my hair colour still look very good even 3 months later:
Really amazed at how long this new Guy Tang #mydentity Bubblegum Rose Gold lasted on my hair. Super love it!
Even until today, I still have people coming up to me and tell me how pretty my hair colour is.
So yes, I would unequivocally recommend Full House Salon for hair colours that will definitely give you a story to tell!
