Hello, I'm Agent M.
I'm a final year JC student who will be taking A levels in a few months time. I'm not sure if it's because of stress but I have been breaking out since 1 or 2 years ago. I don't talk much about it but the acne really made me feel self-conscious, especially when taking selfies. My face is just so red and the pimple scars so obvious! Makeup doesn't conceal the acne well and I'm afraid of using too much as it might worsen the acne.
Seeing how my acne condition seems to be getting worse, I went to see dermatologists who prescribed some medication for me. Unfortunately, the acne kept coming back when I stopped taking them. The dermatologists discouraged me from going for facials as they say that extractions actually make the skin worse.
Running out of options, my mom decided to ask her regular facial therapist for help. My mom is actually a regular reader of Beauty Undercover, she read various reviews here and decided to try Organics Beauty. Ever since her first visit, she's been coming here every month! Seeing how caring the staff at Organics Beauty are and how treatments here do not have extractions, she entrusted me to the therapists.
This is my first time here at Organics Beauty. It's a little hard to get to because Delfi Orchard is about 10 minutes walk away from Orchard MRT. Delfi Orchard is more of a humble quiet little mall with lots of shops and salons, it isn't like one of those posh malls you would expect since it's located in Orchard.
Organics Beauty is located on the 4th floor. The place is kinda small but gives a cozy feeling nonetheless. The stylist who attended to me was Keiko. She's a Japanese facial therapist who can speak English very well.
Before beginning the procedure, she invited me to check my current facial condition with their newest facial check machine. I got to put my face into a machine which takes normal photos and infrared photos to better diagnose my skin problems. It even has a special machine to test for the level of moisture and elasticity of my skin.
The analysis is very thorough and gives more information about my skin from pore size to wrinkles, spots, skin type, skin tone, moisture and even porphyrin, which is a measure of bacteria on the skin. It is normal to have some bacteria on the skin. The normal measure should be about 30-50.
But guess how much I had on my skin?
A whopping 370! I just washed it that morning, possibly about two hours ago and my face is already filled with bacteria so fast. Keiko assured me that this is not actually a hygiene issue but possibly a hormonal one that causes the bacteria to fester and grow really quickly. Although the hormonal issue cannot be solved completely, a facial and a right skincare routine can go a long way to solving my problem.
Seeing how confident she was to make a difference to my skin, I put my face in her hands.
Before the facial begins, I changed into the gown provided. Keiko then offered me a homemade enzyme drink prepared by the founder, Shizuka. It was sweet and refreshing!
Keiko then put a warm shoulder pad around me.
She even gave me a foot bath!
As I was still recovering from the flu, Keiko mixed some special essential oils into the water. How thoughtful!
This is the first facial I've been to so I really can't compare. However, from what I hear from friends, these are not the typical steps that one goes through during a facial. Although I absolutely love what she is doing, I asked Keiko how the footbath can help my skin.
Everything is connected from your respiratory system to your skin and your diet. Here at Organics Beauty, we are using herbs and essential oils to heal your skin. To allow you to get the maximum goodness from the herbs, we do the above to help you relax from head to toe and inside out. - Keiko
Sounds good to me!
Before starting the facial, Keiko also shows me the ingredients she uses for the facial. From what I can see, they are all natural and unprocessed herbs.
Can't wait to get them working on my skin!
Keiko dried my feet and proceeded with the facial.
She sprayed organic rose water into the air.
Keiko rubbed some lavender essential oil on her palm and let me inhale the scent of lavender deeply.
This is really relaxing!
Even my shoulders relaxed as she gave a firm but comfortable massage.
With a clink of the bell, the facial began.
Keiko cleansed my face twice with a foam cleanser. She mentioned that it is more gentle on my skin and yet cleanses it thoroughly.
The sponge she uses is also super soft, so it is very suited for ladies with sensitive acne skin, like me.
The second time, she spent a little more time cleansing with a brief facial massage.
Organics Beauty doesn't do extractions as the founder believes that extractions actually damages the skin further. That's why they use other ingredients to help remove the underlying pus and bacteria effectively but gently.
The clarifying mask contains white clay and organic spirulina that absorb impurities, replenishes minerals to the skin and helps the whiteheads, blackheads and other pus to float up to the surface for more gentle removal.
While the mask dries, Keiko gives me a great head massage. Although this is a facial, I always enjoy the many massages here because they are just so pampering.
I can't really see it for myself but Keiko observed that my skin already looks brighter after the cleansing. I feel so too!
At this step, enzyme mask is applied to the skin. This will help to remove dead skin and the bacteria brought up to the surface cleanly without extraction. Unlike typical enzyme peels, this enzyme mask is not acidic as it is made of pearl barley and helps to brighten the skin. It is therefore suitable for sensitive skin.
More massages while the enzyme peel does its work.
Next up, raw herbs specially selected for acne skin are applied and massaged into the skin.
Apparently, this is Organic Beauty's Signature Herbal Gommage created by Shizuka. It has antibacterial properties and helps whiteheads, blackheads and other pus to float up to the surface for more gentle removal.
It is 100% made from organic herbs!
From what Keiko explains, the herbs help to exfoliate the skin gently and contains various ingredients that help the skin rebuild itself.
While the herbs penetrate the skin, Keiko gave me yet another massage.
After my face is cleansed, Keiko applied a serum. This serum helps to hydrate my skin and contains oils that helps my skin reconstruct its protective barrier against bacteria.
She then followed up with Guasha to enhance blood circulation and encourage the skin to remove toxins and absorb the goodness. The Guasha jade feels cool to the touch and the entire process did not feel painful at all.
One last mask of the day - a calming mask to reduce redness and encourage skin rejuvenation.
While the mask was being applied, Keiko performs a foot massage for me.
She mentioned that the massage is performed on the meridian line with a focus on helping the face absorb the ingredients more thoroughly. Feeling relaxed now from top to toe!
One last sunblock and we are done!
I changed out of the robe and was greeted with this specially prepared set of tea by Keiko.
When I'm done, she invited me to the facial check area to take a look at how much my skin has improved.
It was great to note that the levels of Porphyrin or bacteria had decreased dramatically from 370 to 47 in area C.
When I looked into the mirror, I also found that my skin has brightened up quite a bit. It is not that obvious in photos though.
You can however definitely see that my face has become less red!
Keiko then recommended me to purchase some products back home. Apparently, these products are highly raved for their ability to control acne back in Japan!
My skin felt really good after the first session, It was much smoother and I did not have any skin irritation even days after. Confident about the results at Organics Beauty, my Mom purchased 5 more sessions for me.
Not sure whether it's obvious but I always look forward to coming because it's just so pampering. A great treat after all my hard work mugging for A Levels! As much as I enjoyed the facial, it is important to me that it is effective. I don't want to make my mom spend thousands of dollars only to find out that the facial didn't do much.
Well, I'm glad to note that the money did not go to waste! Here are the results of my facial after 6 sessions...
Other than the fact that I've put on a bit of weight, my skin has actually become a lot better!
Left: Before, Right: After
It's a lot smoother and the acne is largely controlled. My facial redness is also gone.

I'm really happy that my skin has improved so much in just one month, and it is done so naturally without taking drugs that are harmful to my health or doing extractions. Effectiveness aside, I really like how the entire facial felt like a spa. It makes me feel relaxed and calm, and doesn't hurt AT ALL! It's a different experience, plus they are all about being organic so I don't have to worry about any chemicals being used and what not.
Thank you, Keiko, for the amazing facial and for repairing my skin! I'll definitely be coming back for more :)
For those of you struggling with acne like I do, don't give up hope! Give Organics Beauty a try and I'm sure you'll see a huge difference in your skin, as I did.
