Who Says that Valentines Day is Only For Couples? Here are 13 Fun Ways to Spend Valentines Day in Singapore... if you're single!

Published on Feb 04, 2019

14 Feb falls on a Thursday, which is unfortunate for lovey-dovey couples.

If you can't stand the sight of colleagues receiving bouquets at work, why not take the day off and pamper yourself this Valentine's Day... because who says you can't spend this day with yourself?

1. Go for a relaxing day at the spa

A pampering spa session is bound to lift anyone's spirits. Relaxing in a dimly lit room with an aromatic and peaceful ambience - this is what all of us dream of. It can range from a massage to a mud treatment, the options are endless. You'll come out looking fresh and feeling flawless.

Aramsa Spa was recently relaunched after a revamp and we had the chance to go try it out.

Agent G loved the spa in a garden concept and how the oils can be customized for the massage.

The starting foot massage was also a nice touch as well.

The perfect start to a lazy Thursday morning marked with self-love!

2. Send yourself a bouquet

Flower Bouquet

Yup. It might sound weird, but it really isn't. Don't we all love buying flowers to decorate our houses or boring office desks with? Take it a step further by getting a nice bouquet for yourself. It'll brighten up your day and you might feel less lonely if you're someone who is hyper-aware of your surroundings and the people in them.

Plus, getting a bouquet for yourself means you'll save on those delivery fees!

3. Go for an amazing head spa

An easy way to get your mind off Valentine's Day is to literally take your mind off it by enjoying a head spa and massage. Not only will your scalp be clean and rejuvenated, but you'll also feel lighter (and not because of the removed dead skin cells!).

We are preparing a list of top hair salons for awesome head spas in Singapore and here's a preview of our favourites.

Branche Hair Salon

We can't talk about head spa without mentioning Branche Japanese Hair Salon. The fully Japanese staff here ensures that the experience starts the moment you enter with authentic Japanese snacks and even champagne! Sip on that bubbly and enter into dreamland as the stylists work their magic to relieve the stress that has been building up over the past few weeks.

Following its revamp, the Bund recently welcomed a new Taiwanese stylist whose head massage is simply heavenly! Her massage is absolutely on point and is certainly one of the best we've experienced.

Combine that with AVEDA's signature scalp ritual and you've got an irresistible head spa you must try.

FYI, it is located beside Aramsa Spa and so is a natural follow up after the body massage!

The ship sails not on 14 February though but from 1-4 March 2019.

The last date to sign up is however on 14 February 2019.

5. Write a love letter to yourself

This sounds cringey and cheesy, but think about it: You look back at old love letters, friendly cards, and notes from your parents with joy and sentimentality, so why not do it for yourself? You will be able to get over your deepest darkest fears and secrets to bare it all to yourself. It's a great tool for you to get over some hurdles as well as compliment yourself, because nobody knows your strong traits and accomplishments better than yourself.

So start - take out a piece of beautiful paper and a nice pen and start inking down a love letter to yourself. In it, describe what you love about yourself, what you want to improve, and most importantly, why you are worthy of your love.

6. Meet up with your other single friends for a girl's night out

A common take on Valentine's Day for the independent ladies is Galentine's Day. You gather a bunch of girlfriends together and spend it in each other's company instead. After all, it's just a day of love, isn't it?

Many choose to spend it in a simple restaurant, cosying up at home, or at a fun event. if you're looking for one, why not check out the C.O.M.M.U.N.I.T.Y. Ladies’ Night at the Potato Head Singapore? You'll be able to dance to ‘90s R&B and hip-hop beats while sipping on free-flow Prosecco.

If you're bored of staying home and want something more exciting, why not pick up dancing? While other people are prettying up for their significant other, dancing can help you see yourself in a new light and even help you meet new friends! Valentines needn't just be about love... it can be about self-discovery too!

There's also a wide variety of dance or lessons to go to ie. Salsa but if you want something really challenging, there's always pole dancing!

We're contemplating that ourselves so let us know if you've tried!

For the girly girls, there's always the option of getting a mani-pedi! This can be affordable and easily done with any lady in your life, be it your mother, sister, aunt, daughter, or friend.

What better way to catch up with someone than to sit down, relax, and chat? It's definitely a bonus that you will be walking out of the nail salon with beautiful (and possibly matching) nails.

9. Pamper yourself with facial

It's not always easy to get an available slot at your favourite facial place after work. Why not schedule a time on Valentine's Day for your monthly maintenance? It always gives us a boost of confidence when we exit the salon with a face that just looks that much more radiant!

10. Netflix and Chill

Prefer staying home and saving for a rainy day? No problem. You can still indulge in ice-cream and Netflix in the comfort of your own home. Don't feel guilty because this is a day of self-love!

11. Head up to the library for some hot and steamy romance novel

Not getting any? Live vicariously through some of your favourite book or movie characters by getting a few romance novels and curling up on your sofa. Get a glass of tea (or wine), light a scented candle, and enjoy your night at home.

Not sure who to try? Nicholas Sparks, Cecilia Ahern or Jayne Ann Krentz / Amanda Quick if you prefer some mystery thrown in.

12. Go for Yoga

Exercise is known to release endorphins to put you in a better mood and keep your energy levels high. In particular, yoga is a popular favourite because it is the epitome of a peaceful workout.
