Hello there, I'm Agent N. I'm an art educator and enjoy sharing my knowledge and guiding children towards pursuing their love of art.
I can't do hair but have always felt that hair is a type of art as well. I have naturally straight hair and that is not my preferred state as it always looks so flat and lifeless.
That's why I enjoy going for a colour and perm once in a while to add volume and texture. I used to go to a Korean stylist but she has returned to Korea, leaving me clueless about who to go to next.
My hair has become lifeless and rather damaged after a number of chemical services and is now rather flat :(
I was sharing my hair problems with a good friend of mine when she asked if I was keen to try Branche Hair and Nail Salon. She always look amazing after a haircut at Branche so it got me really tempted. Coincidentally, Branche was looking for a hair model for Paimore GRATS perm, their latest perm for ladies with dry and damaged hair. Since that was what I needed, I decided to go for it!
I heard about how luxurious Branche Salon was... but the actual place was beyond my expectations.
On top of its beautiful interior, the stylists within the salon were all dressed in suits and greeted me just as I entered.
My hairstylist for the day was Ryo. He may be Japanese but speaks English so fluently, I felt very comfortable around him.
Apparently, he studied in the UK before, so that may be why his English is so good.
We talked about a variety of topics, including my occupation and my preferred style. He checked my hair condition and gave me some photos to look at before we finally arrived at a specific perm design together. I requested for something voluminous yet natural and effortless to manage.
He suggested going for Paimore GRATS Perm as the perm is resilient yet low-damage. Sounds good to me!
I really appreciated the time he took to explain the dozen styles of what seemed like similar types of curls as he explained how each type of curl will look according to my face and hair type.
Now that we've decided on a style, it was time to proceed for the perm.
The hair wash itself was an experience as I didn't even have to move from my seat. The seat could be automatically lowered to be transformed into a wash basin... impressive don't you think?
There, Ryo gave a good head massage and hair wash before continuing with the next step.
Ryo didn't cut too much of my hair but merely gave it a trim
as well as layering to make the curls more obvious later on.
He also thinned some parts of the hair so that the curls are lighter and can appear more bouncy.
When it was time, he finally applied the Paimore GRATS Perm Lotion.
I had to sit with it for a short while for the perm lotions to break the existing bonds in my hair.
He had to use curl some hair around the rod to test if my hair was ready for processing.
Once it was, he gave me another wash again... right at my seat!
The tools used for my transformation.
Ryo carefully wrapped small sections of my hair with the hair rollers.
The rollers were of different sizes to create a more natural, multidimensional effect.
Once I was all rolled up,
the heated machine was connected to each roller individually.
Another short wait ensued before the rollers came off!
Ryo combed and straightened out the kinks to shape them nicely.
Lastly, the neutralizer was applied.
Another 20 minutes later, I was ready for my final wash.
He didn't just blow my hair dry
Ryo actually put on light makeup for me afterwards!
It included light touchup of my foundation, blusher, application of mascara and lipstick.
I feel so pampered!
When drying my hair, he twirled my curls around his finger and showed me how I could do the same at home.
Are you keen to see the final result?
Just a quick reminder of how my hair looked previously.
And now After:
Do you like this hair as much as I do? My hair is slightly limp but this perm manage to make my curls soft and bouncy!
Ryo also designed just enough curls to add volume without making me look auntie (old)... instead, it almost made me feel like I am born with these curls. This is how natural it looked to me... LOVE it!
I've gotten my hair permed elsewhere but none could compare to the experience I had at Branche Salon. From the moment I step in to the moment I leave, Ryo was unfailingly attentive and provided me with beverages and snacks directly from Japan! He also made sure that the haircut and perm was tailored specifically to my hair type, face type and needs. As a result, the perm exceeded my expectations and looked exactly what I wanted! It was subtle yet classy, something I really loved!
I was a little worried that Japanese perms are less lasting than Korean perms but I needn't have. It has been 2 months since my perm and I can tell you that the curls are still there and looks very natural. Perfect for Spring as it adds that much more dimension and texture to my otherwise lifeless hair. My hair was really very dry and damaged before Branche so I was surprised to see such great results on my hair.
I didn't think that it would be able to last another round of colouring + perming. But I learned that Branche's Paimore GRATS Perm was able to repair my hair somehow and made it even softer than before.
This is thus far, my most memorable hair salon experience with awesome perm results! While the prices are steep, the experience and outcome more than justifies the price and hence would recommend friends and family looking to pamper yourself to come by for a perm or even just a cut and colour!
