For most mothers, pregnancy is a very special time. There is an inexplicable joy from the moment you see that plus sign on the pregnancy stick, a joy that envelopes your heart as your baby grows with you.
As joyful as it is, the journey is not an easy one. Anyone who've been through 40 weeks of pregnancy can tell you that this is an entirely new adventure fraught with backaches, swollen feet, cramps, water retention, skin changes and most of all, fears. Fears that something you do will adversely affect the baby and so many give up their beloved manicures and pedicures, hair services, exercise and even jobs for their precious one.
Did you know, however, that high levels of stress (brought about by stress hormone cortisol) are associated with babies who cry more and sleep less after birth?
It is a fact that Happy Mommies produce Happy Babies, so your priority is to enjoy the pregnancy and keep yourself happy. If you need a perk-me-up during the pregnancy, a Prenatal Facial at Organics Beauty is possibly the best and safest spa treatment to help relieve your discomfort and stay happy.
Here are 10 reasons why!
From the organic tea at the beginning of the facial to the organic products used and timing of the facial (and turning of the body) to ensure that the mom doesn't lie face up for extended periods of time, every single detail is thought of to make sure that the Organic facial is safe and relaxing for pregnant moms and their baby.
There is no wrap or anything that could raise the body temperature to make sure that the facial is as safe as possible.
The products used are 100% organic and does not contain Retinol or Retin-A which could be linked to birth defects. Instead, milder organic ingredients are used in the facial to encourage hydration.
Some pregnant moms may find themselves experiencing sensitivie skin for the first time due to increased hormone levels.
The products used in this facial are therefore carefully selected to be free from perfume and preservatives. Instead, the ingredients contain soothing herbs to soothe the skin and hydrate it.
To make sure that the products penetrate more deeply into the skin, Organics Beauty specially formulated a massage based on facial reflexology. Therapist Hana would apply mild pressure on the various acupressure points to encourage absorption while at the same time, firm up the skin and relieve bodily discomfort.
Although this is a facial, it includes back massage and massage of the arms to help relieve backaches experienced by many mommies!
It is unsurprising to find moms snoring gently during the facial given how relaxing the entire process is. Agent M and many other moms who've tried this facial also shared that they slept better at home the nights following the facial as well.
As people say, Happy Mommies mean Happy Babies.
If you want your babies to be more 乖 or good-natured (ie. cry less and sleep more), you have to first relax and invest some time in activities that help you relax and calm down. For those who find it hard to relax, a prenatal facial like this is perfect to get your cortisol levels down!
This Prenatal Facial is specially created by Japanese Facial Professional Hana, who is also a Mother of FOUR children. Having given birth not too long ago, Hana understood the joys but also the discomfort of being pregnant. Hoping to make the process a smoother and more enjoyable one, she has also undergone various courses that allowed her to be a WSQ qualified Prenatal Massage Therapist. With all this knowledge, she utilized all her knowledge from facial reflexology, massage and personal experiences to create this special facial.

Read on for Agent M's experience at Organics Beauty
Hello, I'm Agent M. People are often surprised when I tell them that I'm going for facial and reformer pilates afterwards... because I'm 8 months pregnant!
I'm really happy to be pregnant but pregnancy comes with its own set of problems. Other than the usual aches, I found my skin becoming drier and drier and skin becoming more pigmented. Not something I'm particularly happy about since I already have some freckles since I was young.
I shared some of my concerns with Hana, a friend of mine and she encouraged me to come over to try her new Prenatal Facial. Hana works at Organics Beauty, a facial salon that is frequented by a number of my friends. They always rave about how personal the experience is and the fact that everything is organic, so I am particularly excited to give it a try.
Especially with all the backaches and dry skin, I can't wait to give the Prenatal Facial a try!
The facial salon is located in Delfi Orchard. Not the most convenient location for sure, but the place is still relatively easy to get to via Grab and public transport.
I was welcomed by Hana when I arrived. She had already gotten everything ready when I arrived: the slippers, the room and the enzyme drink.
She escorted me into the room for an in-depth consultation which asked about my previous facial history, medical history as well as my skin concerns.
She also asked me how I felt and offered me a homemade enzyme drink and some tea to relax before we begin.
After going through the consultation form, Hana explained that she will be using two types of oils during the facial.
The oils included frankinsincense, rose wood, lavender, rosehip oil, orange, sunflower and so on to soothe my sensitive skin and hydrate the areas which are a little dry. I love how she took the effort to write which ingredients were used and actually explained to me how each of these ingredients helped me with my skin concerns.
A first for me!
Once I got myself changed, Hana helped me to sit on the bed and gently lowered me down.
This may seem small but I love how she takes care of every small detail and makes me feel so pampered.
She wiped my hands with a warm cloth and once i was ready, she wrapped a towel around my head and began the facial proper.
As my eyelids grow heavy, I hear the chime of tibetan bells reverberating through the room. This is to me a nice touch as it got me concentrating on the facial, instead of the 101 things I want to do outside of the facial.
Next, I felt a spray of light mist on my face. The rosewater has a calming effect even as it helps to moisturize the skin.
With that, the facial began. Hana cleansed my face with a cream cleanser very gently
before removing it with a damp cloth.
Every movement was slow and gentle so I don't feel any miscomfort.
Instead of starting with a facial, Hana removed my towel and started on a head massage.
Hana softly mentioned that the massage will help calm my mind down so that I can reap the maximum benefits from the facial later on.
The pressure applied was just right, I couldn't help but fall deeper into slumber.
As I was already 8 months pregnant, Hana incorporated a body massage into the facial routine.
She turned me to the side, as this means that I wouldn't be lying on my back for too long.
It also gave her more access to massage my back gently to knead away all the aches I've been experiencing the past few weeks.
Every stroke was heaven as she knew just where to knead to get rid of the tension.
and as usual, the pressure was just right.
With all my back aches kneaded away, Hana returned for a facial massage.
She applied the facial oils she showed me earlier in the facial and gave me an acupressure point massage.
The points were specifically selected to ease my areas of concern, which included my slightly stuffy nose and fluffy face.
To reduce the water retention around the face, Hana also massaged my jaw gently to drain the toxins through the lymph nodes.
Once the facial oils were removed, Hana then applied a clay mask onto my face.
The clay mask helps to remove impurities while at the same time purify the skin with mild natural ingredients.
As we waited for the mask to dry, she used the second body oil shown to me early on in the facial for a hand massage.
Again, specific pressure points were used to improve circulation and relieve tension.
For the first time, I had someone massage my hands (specifically my fingers and the meat of my hands). Just as there are acu points on our feet and our faces, there are acu points on our hands as well. Hana mentions that there will be specific "air pockets" when there are areas linking to body parts that need a little more attention. So she too kneaded the "air pockets" to stimulate the specific areas.
A warm cloth was used to remove the mask and soon, the facial is coming to an end.
Hana gave me a genlte shoulder massage and ended the facial with yet another spray of rosewater.
As I awake from my slumber, I feel re-energized and rejuvenated for the day.
That isn't all though.
After I got changed, Hana served me a cup of warm Linden tea which is known to help with bloating, constipation and flatulence during pregnancy.
Thank you Hana for the amazing experience.
My skin looked brighter and definitely felt firmer immediately after.
Is this what they call the "pregnancy glow"?
I had a great time with Hana at Organics Beauty. The place may be in Orchard but Hana and Shizuka have made this place a sanctuary for us women to rest, relax and recuperate from our busy lives.
For an hour, I let go of all my worries and simply enjoyed the experience of being pampered by someone as thoughtful as Hana.
For an hour, I wasn't just a baby's mom but a woman in dire need of a soothing touch.
Under her healing touch, all my pains, tension, aches faded away. I haven't felt so relaxed in a long time and am so very grateful to Hana.
For those of you experiencing the downsides of pregnancy, I would highly recommend you to go for a perk-me-up with this personal and rejuvenating Prenatal Facial at Organics Beauty!
