With many sporting this new style on the streets, earloop highlights have EXPLODED in popularity in recent months. In fact, stylists in Singapore have identified this as one of 2021's trending hairstyles.
Love this style but not keen to go for something everyone else is already sporting? We've got just the right design for you to spice things up: RAINBOW Earloop Highlights.
Yes, we know that traditional galaxy / rainbow colours take FOREVER as they have to bleach your full head quite a bit to get the same effect. Rainbow Earloop Highlights colour just a small section and depending on the colours chosen, you MAY not have to stay at the salon quite so long or damage your hair THAT much.
There's just something special about seeing rainbows that lifts our spirits the moment we see them. As they are simply so light, fresh and happy, we can't help but feel a sense of delight as they bring the promise of sunshine to the sky.
The same goes for rainbow highlights.
Just looking at it brings a smile to our face, doesn't it?
Agent XP's earloop highlights by Alex from The Beauty Emporium by The Urban Aesthetics
We know that many people struggle with choosing a hair colour because it can be hard to go back once you settle on one. If you have bleached hair, you get the luxury of playing around with more colours. However, it is still limited because some shades don't fade completely, and even for those that do, you have to wait for a few weeks before you can change your hair colour.
if you just want to go for multiple colours at one go, you'll love rainbow highlights. As its name suggests, you can choose more than one colour. It's the best time to see what colour suits you since you only have to bleach a small section of hair.
Pantone named Illuminating Yellow and Ultimate Gray as 2021's colour of the year.
They're pretty colours to look at and maybe to paint your walls with, but it can be hard to pull them off as hair colours. This pure grey might make you look older unless you opt for a trendy ash grey instead, and yellow is gorgeous but a super bold statement to make.
Instead, you can try yellow streaks, dip dyes, or use yellow in your rainbow earloop highlights.
Unlike highlights that tends to look good only with curls, rainbow earloop highlights look great on both straight and curly hair.
Since earloop highlights are hidden in the section of hair around your ear, it looks pretty much like your normal hair when it isn't styled because you don't usually curl that area anyway. Simply tuck your hair behind your ear, tie your hair up, or clip the top half of your hair for your hair colour to shine.

Hi, I'm Agent XP.
As you can ese, I haven't done much to my hair... but don't judge me though, that's not for the lack of trying.
I tried rebonding my hair in primary school as it is a litlte wavy but it turned out too straight.
I tried colouring my hair when I was 19 but the colour didn't last at all, so that was the first and last time I coloured my hair.
After graduating from tertiary education, I tried perming my hair, but I ended up looking like an auntie instead.
I was left wondering if my hair was hard to handle, if the salons I went to weren't the best, or if I was simply picky.
Recently though, my brother was raving about a hair salon he's been visiting. He works at Raffles City and came across The Beauty Emporium by The Urban Aesthetics hidden at a corner on Level 3. He decided to walk in and since then, has been loving the haircut he's getting. With the festive season coming up, he asked if I was keen to do my hair.
His regular stylist shared that they're looking for a hair model for a cut, colour, and treatment.
Of course, I took the plunge!
The salon is conveniently located in a central mall that is right outside the MRT, so finding it was no issue.
To be honest, I was surprised that my brother comes to a place like this.
The place is very spacious, with big mirrors and marble decor, so it looks very atas.
But, I like. HAHA.
From the moment I entered, the receptionist escorted me to my seat and introduced me to... Alex.
Woof, he looks so good even with mask on... my heart couldn't help but beat that much faster.
During the consultation, he was VERY nice too. He patiently listened to me vomit about my negative experiences and what I didn't like. Then, he asked if I had any hairstyle or goal in mind. I had some ideas but I wasn't really sure. The very approachable Alex shared that it's OK! He will take my ideas into consideration and think of something fun for me to show my friends.
First, he suggested that I add some layers to my hair so that I could add volume and texture without losing length.
Next, he suggested giving me a fringe to frame my face better and make it look smaller.
Knowing how much I wanted some colour in my hair, Alex suggested something called the Rainbow Earloop Highlights.
It will brighten my hair without damaging my hair too much and still look professional.
It all sounds so exciting, I gave him the go-ahead!
Alex began by trimming the ends of my hair and adding some long layers.
He then gave me an air fringe to lengthen my face by adding volume to the top of my head and the sides of my forehead.
While I was checking out my new haircut, Alex started preparing the tools needed for the bleaching process.
To prevent excessive damage to my hair, he sprayed the Tokio Inkarami 0 pre-treatment oil to the sections of hair that were going to be bleached.
Then, bleach was brushed onto said sections.
Sheets of aluminium foil were then used for sections closer to my scalp to prevent the bleach from touching my scalp and other sections of hair.
He repeated the process a couple more times until the under-ear sections of hair were done.
The relevant sections was covered in plastic wrap.
and heated to accelerate the process.
After 20 minutes, it was time for a hair wash. The hair assistant used purple shampoo to cancel out the yellow tones from the bleach.
Back in my seat, Alex sprayed a little more of the treatment to help the hair repair a bit of the damage sustained.
As well as a quick blowdry.
Next, he prayed the Advante Smooth treatment all over my hair.
Then, he used a flat iron to straighten my hair and lock the treatment in.
Suitably convinced that enough is done to repair my hair, it was time to go for the fun part:
I got to pick out so many fun colours for my earloop highlights - how exciting.
Alex painted some blue,
and green onto my hair!
Only a small section of hair was bleached, so this process was done super fast.
I waited 20 minutes for the colour to settle, then went to get my hair washed.
Here's a sneak peek!
Ready to see the final results?
From the back, you totally can't see how colourful my hair is.
But from the front, surprise!
The highlights really pop when I push the top section of my hair back.
I can curl my hair to make the rainbow appear more obviously though I can choose not to.
I'm in love with this new colour!
Never in my dreams did I think I'd be able to pull off rainbow colours but here I am, thanks to Alex's creativity and skill!
The colour tones unexpectedly fit me to a T.
I love it!
THANK YOU Alex and The Beauty Emporium by The Urban Aesthetics for the colour.
I know I'll be back!
