Hello, I'm Agent R, a Japanese working in the finance industry in Singapore. Hence, it shouldn't come as a surprise that I usually go for Japanese Hair Salons; the service is usually very good and I feel that they understand what I want best. However, I had to hop around different salons and trying various stylists before actually settling down on one: Rubik Hair Salon.
My first experience with Ken-U was very good. He was very polite throughout and was able to achieve the hair colour I was looking for. The salon itself was also very spacious, comfortable and clean. During that first visit, I also shared with Ken-U some of my hair concerns. As Singapore's weather is very humid, my hair has the tendency to turn frizzy at the end of the day, like this:
If I don't blowdry my hair properly, my hair will look quite messy
Ken-U therefore suggested for me to try their new Fukugen Treatment from Japan. In Japanese, Fukugen means hair restoration and this is exactly what this treatment does. It is a no-chemical hair treatment that repairs the hair from its cortex. It includes only water and amino acids to nourish the hair cortex. The difference? The water is ionized and alkaline so it can open cuticles momentarily to deposit the amino acids before closing. Ken-U showed me photos about how a customers' hair became healthier, smoother and shinier after the treatment.
If I come back every month for 3 times, my hair will actually become healthier and healthier.
Because there are no chemicals involved, this treatment has proven to be very effective for ladies with very damaged bleached hair as well.
Even though my hair isn't THAT bad, the photos were convincing enough for me to make a second appointment down to Rubik Hair Salon to try the Miracle new treatment Fukugen.
This time, I am served by Director Satoshi, a Japanese stylist who speaks excellent English. He is also gentle, polite and gave very good explanation about what he is doing throughout.
The Fukugen starts with the application of the Ionised Alkaline Water to my hair.
As mentioned, this is no ordinary water but water that is alkaline so it actually opens up the cuticles to enable to application of amino acids afterwards. This water is also the expensive part of the treatment as it has to be made in a laboratory and imported into Singapore!
Satoshi first sprayed the entire head with the special water to make sure that it is evenly applied.
With the hair still wet, they very quickly applied the amino acids in the form of a cream.
With the hair cuticles open by the alkaline water, the amino acids is very easily absorbed.
For even application, Satoshi combed the hair from the roots to the ends.
In between, he added more alkaline water to the hair to open the cuticles once more and encourage absorption of the amino acids.
To activate the action of the alkaline water and seal the treatment in, Satoshi used a straightener to iron my hair once through.
Very quickly, it was time for a hair wash.
At the sink, Satoshi applied CMC to further seal the amino acids within the cuticle. He applied a really generous amount two or three ones onto the hair to ensure maximum penetration!
Back at the seat, Satoshi straightened my hair with a comb once again.
Look at how smooth it looked!
Keen to see what my hair looked like after?
Here's a quick reminder of how I looked like before.
Here it is!
In just an hour, my hair became silky smooth without even having silicone or artificial ingredients in the treatment.
Look at the shine! Sugoi!
I couldn't help but play with my hair afterwards.
It looks good now but how does it compare to other treatments back at home? I've got to get home and wash it a few times to find out.
My hair didn't just remain silky smooth after 1/2 washes. My hair still looked shiny and smooth close to two weeks. Given that the entire treatment process lasted for only 1 hour and doesn't have any chemicals inside, I think it is very amazing!
Thank you Satoshi san!
Definitely making my next appointment since my hair is supposed to look even better after doing Fukugen repeatedly over 3 months.
Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates natural yet effective hair treatments with Japanese omotenashi service!
