It can be a little hard to find, given the plethora of shophouses in Circular Road but arm yourself with Google Maps, walk up to the second level of 24A and you’ll be rewarded with a slice of Japan where you can do all three under one roof.

​​Walk through the door and you’ll be greeted by large swaths of warm creamy walls, solid wooden tables, gorgeous pots of tea that reminds us of a perfect Sunday afternoon.

Walk on and you’ll see a charming arch that leads to a private salon space where you can be pampered with haircuts, colour and head spa by top Japanese stylist Koichi.

​​​​​​This is exactly the experience that founder Megumi intends for all visitors: a sanctuary in the middle of the city where everyone can experience an improvement in inner and outer beauty. You see, she was once like one of us, tirelessly working as a designer after graduating from the prestigious Istituto Marangoni in Milan. Her health however suffered years into the job, requiring her to take time off work. Thanks to this, she realized how important it is to dedicate time to attain balance in her life, whether it is via herbs or self-care., leading her to become a certified herbalist.

WHITETREE was thus born. With strong knowledge in herbs, Megumi developed 9 unique tea blends that offer targeted benefits such as alleviation of fatigue, boosting of immunity and improvement in digestion. The organic wellness teas are so well received that they’ve been used by Japanese celebrities and top hotel brands (e.g. Capella Hotel, Kahala Hotel) and as well as luxury hospitals (e.g. Raffles Hospital) in 6 countries around the world.

Not satisfied with just changing people’s lives from within, Megumi conceptualized the WHITETREE Salon and café. Here at WHITETREE, you can look forward not just to a transformational makeover but also an uplifting of your health and spirit with complimentary herbal tea, an express scalp spa with every hair experience and a nutritious cafe menu specially designed by a top Japanese dietician.

As with all hair salons however, the highlight at the end of the day is still the stylist. Koichi stands out, not just because he is a Japanese hairstylist with extensive experience in Singapore but also because of his amazing lather cut. Customers who’ve given him a try rave about how he can make one’s hair look voluminous – purely with a haircut combining both lather cut and the New York Dry Cut! Add hair colour designs that uses bleach minimally as well as awesome head massage skills and we’ve got a hairstylist that harnesses nature as much as possible to create beauty, a stylist that perfectly matches WHITETREE.

One may expect such a pampering experience located within the CBD to have prices through the roof but we’re pleasantly surprised to find it not so. While haircut at $90 is pretty competitive across most Japanese salons, their bikami set menu (Trim + Scalp Spa + Afternoon Tea) at $70 make WHITETREE one of the most affordable Japanese beauty experiences you can consider coming each month.
