[Review] Eden Spa – Hydra Infusion Facial

Eden Spa is a place that uses ONLY Clarins products. THis is one of the reasons that prompted me to try their services out, knowing that their products are already good.

Indulge in best-selling facials that feature award-winning products combined with Eden Spa’s signature 22-step Facial Massage – a fusion of acupoint, lymphatic drainage and lifting techniques, that is sure to delight your senses.

Hydra-Infusion Facial (60mins)
A refreshing facial that restores ideal moisture balance to dehydrated skin, leaving skin soft, fresh, and radiant. A “must-have” after a long flight or sun exposure.

During this 60min, Lindsy, my therapist does not leave the room. Meaning, during the steaming, she will be there doing a gentle scrub on my face. And during the mask time, she will be massaging my shoulders n kneading those knots away. For my first session, she explains each step and what product she’s using. And later after everything and in the lounge area, she showed me a visual chart of products that she used during my treatment. She’s great and extraction was clean and totally painless. After doing extraction on one part, she will swipe that area with camomile lotion, to immediate calm the skin. It works, cos I leave the place with my face looking normal and zero redness. This is a boutique spa and after a few visits, I give them a thumbs up on service first and there was no hard selling. No mini consultation rooms but jus a spacious lounge area where you can relax with some hot tea. I was also given some product samples to try back home

I believe first time trial is SGD 98. Packages start from $960 for 7 sessions + 2 eye treatments.

What a good DEAL!

Just being in the clean, relaxed atmosphere of the spa made me happy already!

Momo happily choosing her preferred treatment. She gets to choose between:

Triplex BodySculpt: 3-in-1 therapy that uses slimming massage techniques on the waist, hip and thigh; Stress-relieving and pampering massage on the rest of the body.
Waist-Shaper + Hip and Thigh Lift Combi: Best selling intensive treatments that target the waist, tummy, hip and thigh; Releases excess fats, & reduces stubborn cellulite.
Swedish Destress Massage: Improves blood circulation, increase flexibility, reduces muscle tension and aches; Deeply relaxing and pampering experience.

I chose the Swedish destressing massage and she chose the waist-shaper!

The reason why I like Eden Spa is because they are the first and only spa in Singapore to exclusively use Clarins products in their massages and therapies!

Clarins products are quite expensive so it’s super worth the $48 especially when I got my body oiled in Clarins’ natural plant goodness.

As promised my spa treatment started with a relaxing footbath. Had a fun time doing this next to my mom as we gossiped away.

After this was the actual massage which was fantastic although I have no pictures of it…

My favourite part of the massage was when I had the 20 minute Lymphatic Drainage Head and Face Detox Massage – OMG I LOVE HEAD MASSAGES!!

So freaking awesome!!

After the massage I took a nice shower at their pretty toilet.

There was no hard selling of the packages

Thing were just like before, we took a bus down to Purvis street and chit-chatted all the way till we alighted and began hunting for the place. It was not difficult to find and really nice to know that the ambiance and atmosphere of the spa is so relaxing and soothing to the soul. A step in to the 2-storey shop house, a whiff of that aromatherapy seems to instantaneously lift away 50% of whatever tiredness you have brought along with you.

The lady tending to us was really paitient in explaining the treatments that we were going to get and there was 3 types of Slimming & Contouring Treatments to choose from.

Triplex BodySculpt
Waist-Shaper + Hip & Thigh Lift Combi
Swedish Destress Massage
Seriously speaking, in a single session, I am not sure of how much of the body we can sculpt or slim hence we chose the Swedish Destress Massage. Next we were made to choose our massage oil. After all the choosing including how firm or soft we want our massage to be, we were introduced to our therapist, who then led us to this really cozy room with huge arm chairs.

We are gonna do the Ginger Herbal Detox Footbath which claims to improve blood circulation, reduce aches and pains, and remove excess “wind” and “dampness” in our feet. Anyway whatever it was, it was sure hell of a lot of comfort to our tired feet. The smell of ginger, the nice warm water, I can almost nearly feel the immediate comfort sensation riding up to my calves. You can see my mummy enjoying herself too.

There was no wow factor in the room (it is really tiny). But once the therapist work her fingers on you, you will wish she (Dianh) is never going to stop. Her finger work is in fact a wow factor itself. I can boldly say it is one of the best massages I have had in my life or either I am not going for enough massages to make comparison. The comfort of her fingers working through my body soon brought me to snooze land. And her touch though not firm seems to be able to release every knots and tensions in me that I can only sigh with pleasure and comfort. The 60 minutes is up to fast though I know she is really nice to give me a little extra time. It is Shiokness Over Load!

The Lymphatic Drainage Head & Face Detox Massage, if I were to describe is like a series of nimble, light and fast moving of the fingertips all over the face. It is something I have never felt before and it has brought me much comfort. I especially like the head massage too.

Anyway when it is all over, I felt really light all over but my bladder had seemed to accumulated much water from the massage that I felt as if I had peed most of the water out of my body.

All was finished with a cup of lemon grass tea and of course some sales talk. What impresses me most is there was no hard selling of the packages. The lady, Mary really respected our decision which does not put us in an awkward situation at all. For this, I really appreciate her.

Anyway soon Mum and I were out for a high tea and it felt so good that we were able to window shop till 10pm plus and had a really good deep sleep that night, waking up feeling refreshed. That lasted us for a whole entire wee

*1/2 Cup Empty: I definitely do not understand how they calculate the 1-time session to be S$360 because on a personal note, I do not feel it is worth that much.

* 1/2 Cup Full: The service we received is definitely worth more than S$48 so for this, I am happy that mummy is happy.

This lymphatic draining massage technique is quite bizarre!

Purvis Street is not far from where I work so I had a leisurely stroll to the boutique spa. It looked a lot smaller than it really is on the inside. Definitely more than meets the eye. Everyone was quiet and soft-spoken inside and I felt very relaxed. Maybe it’s because I had a long day at work. But really – great use of space. Nice decor. Nothing overtly ostentatious and it felt like a place I could return to. I liked that from the moment I entered the spa, aromatherapy calmed me down.

Linda took time to first introduce me to the CLARINS products used in the spa and then explained what the treatment I was going to receive. Afterwhich, I was taken inside to a room with 4 large leather armchairs to soak my feet in a hot tub of ginger detox solution. Whilst flipping magazines, I actually started to nod off. It was THAT relaxing! Dark, quiet and the hot water… mmmmm… After 20 minutes, I was brought upstairs where the treatment rooms are but I asked to use the bathroom before we start. Love what they did with the place! So spa! Stone tiles, soft lighting, rattan seats in a verandah, spacious showers and dressing areas.
The massage itself was interesting. It wasn’t the kind of relaxing aromatherapy massages I was used to. It was vigorous and hypnotic. Not exactly uncomfortable but a bit weird. It was ticklish at some points especially when she was working my upper thighs and my waist. But it was quite strange how even though she was using a lot of force, I nodded off and started snoring. This lymphatic draining massage technique is quite bizarre! Then after about 30 minutes or so, she wrapped me in clingwrap and told me to get back on the bed. It was of course a struggle because I was like a mummy! But I fell asleep soon after when she started the head and face massage. Oh… zzzzzz….
Was it worth $360? Probably not. Even when I read the list prices, I’m not sure how this worked. The entire session took about slightly more than an hour and it was a combination of a few things. But because Linda took time to explain to me about the products as well as offered me a very attractive package, I took a small 4 session one. I also like the environment a lot. I don’t know, this is kinda different than what I’ve done before. I need to read up more about this detox and lymphatic whatever. I’m not sure how it stimulates whatever to help you slim down or encourage weight loss.

The masseuse really knows how to do the job well

Receptionist area.
The heat from outside was left behind completely the moment I stepped in (it was Sunday afternoon). It is such relaxing and super cozy environment.
The staff gave me a shoes tray to keep my shoes.
I didn’t know that Eden Spa is the first and only spa in Singapore that exclusively uses award-winning Clarins products in their body therapies & massages, which meant I had chance to try out products of a famous brand in the world at only S$46, woohooo  So excited, lolz!

There are 3 types of oil they have
Anti-Eau Oil
Tones & Nourishes. Hazelnut, Broom, & Geranium combine beautifully to eliminate toxins, stimulate the skin, firm tissues, and reduce water retention.

Tonic Oil
Firms & Tones. Mint, Rosemary & Hazelnut blend perfectly to improve skin elasticity, and help prevent skin slackening and the appearance of stretch marks.

Relax Oil
Relaxes & Soothes. Petit Grain, Camomile & Basil work in harmony to relieve stress & fatigue, and promotes a sense of well-being.
. I chose the Soothing & Relaxing one.

Luxurious lounge where you can sit down, have a chat and relax or you can shop for your favorite Clarins products at Tester-bar.

I’m having my Herbal Detox Footbath to kick start the session. The ginger herbs and lemongrass were told to help me relieve wind, remove toxins and relax myself. But the best part is:

The entire massage room was mine!!! So privileged

Pardon me for my plain face without any make up on coz I just finished a facial treatment earlier.

After the Footbath, I was taken to upstairs for body massage.

The masseuse really knows how to do the job well. Wherever she moved her fingers on my body, she found the right place to massage. It was so relieved, omg until I fell asleep during the massage.

Blissful Day

Yesterday I went for the most heavenly experience. I should start from the beginning. I came across a bigdeal voucher for a Clarins massage. As I’m a sucker for Clarins treatments, I immediately bought the voucher. The treatment was called “Signature Eden Bliss Full Body Massage + HerbalDetox Footbath” at Eden Spa at Purvis. I called up the Spa to make an appointment. The Spa personnel was so patient and explained to me in detail what is the treatment and we fixed the date. The day before my appointment, I got a call to remind me about the apointment.

From the moment I stepped into the Spa, it was a blissful experience. Sean was at the reception. I filled up a short form and we discussed about the type of massage I would prefer and the problem areas. He drew the areas to focus on a chart and confirmed it with me. He also explained the 3 types of Clarins Body Treatment oils, what is it made of and what it does to me. His product knowledge was good. He gave me time to decide which one I would like. He also brought a tray for me to place my footwear.

He led me to another room (again with fantastic aroma) where I soaked my feet in a wooden bucket filled with warm water and oils. Next to my seat was a cup of lemon grass tea and a pile of current magazines (i’ve been to spas where the magazines are from past years). The tea felt so soothing and not overpowered with sugar.

After the soak, the masseur led me to the massage room on the 2nd floor. She covered my back with towels and started with firm pressure. I was wondering why isn’t she using oil. Then I realised, she’s relaxing all the knots and tightness in my back (which was quite a lot of them) using various massage techniques . She did this for quite a long time. After that, she applied oil and massaged with long strokes. It was soooo relaxing and I almost dozed off. When the massage was over, she brought in a few warm wet towels. She gave me one to wipe my hands and she wiped my feet with a different towel for each feet. Most other spas would have just used 1 towel. These are the small things that makes a difference.

After the massage I was led to a lounge and that’s when I realised the massage was for more than 1.5 hours. At the lounge I met Mary (the spa boss). In my mind, I was thinking “gosh here comes the sales talk”. Was I very wrong. We talked about Clarins, babies and our bodies. She did share with me the various packages but no hard sell at all. She was so warm and willingly shared her knowledge on taking care of our body and skin. She understood when I told her that the location is not convenient for me and do not want to commit a package.

When I was going through the products to see which ones to buy, she gave me time to look and select. She also showed me coffrets that would be more value for money. It was a blissful experience for me. But the day didn’t end with just that 1 blissful experience. My 2-year old baby, who cries in the middle of the night, slept through the night. I was shocked when I woke up this morning and realised i had not woke up in the middle of the night. I can’t remember when was the last time I was able to sleep through the night.

Looking forward to the next pampering session. Kudos to Mary and the staff of Eden Spa at Purvis. You have set a high service level standard.

The masseur was not very skilled on body massage

I received a call one day from Eden Spa that they will be having a promotion for facial at $68 which I was not totally interested in as I am not a guy who takes much care for my facial needs, so I checked if they had any promotions for body massage and Eden Spa offered me a one-hour body massage course for $98. Though I thought it to be pretty pricey, I decided to give it a go anyway since I have not been to Eden Spa before.

I made an appointment on Sunday so that the crowd is smaller but I was wrong and I had some difficulties in finding a parking lot at Purvis street, and ended up parking at a nearby building, which took some of my time as well.

Upon entering the spa, I was greeted by the polite receptionist whom appeared to know my name and I was thinking was I the only one that have made an appointment during that time. She handed me a health questionnaire (similar to the one which I have filled up at Ikeda Spa) and we proceeded on to the massage room.

I would say that the ambience was alright for that moment and there wasn’t really much activity going on around the spa. I was given a room and was allowed to change my clothes for the oil massage. It felt like the massage did not last for an hour and it seems that the masseur was not very skilled on body massage although Clarins products were being used. Honestly, I felt that there wasn’t much difference between those products and those of normal massage oil.

This spa is highly recommended

We opted for full Swedish style.

We got to choose which oil we preferred to have for our massage.

I took the Relax Oil – Relaxes & Soothes. Petit Grain, Camomile & Basil work in harmony to relieve stress & fatigue, and promotes a sense of well-being, while my friend chose the Tonic Oil – Firms & Tones. Mint, Rosemary & Hazelnut blend perfectly to improve skin elasticity, and help prevent skin slackening and the appearance of stretch marks.

We had the foot bath before the massage. It was indeed quite relaxing to just soak my feet into the warm water/ tea.

And then we had our 90 min massage! They only have single rooms.

There was no locker provided en suite, but anyway I left most valuables in the car.

The massage bed has a hole for my face! That is my basic requirement of massages.

I noticed that they didn’t shortchange my 90mins, which was a good thing, as most other spas tend to cut the time short by like 15 mins?

The massage was one of the better ones around. I felt comfortable throughout.

They didn’t really hardsell either, which was good.

This spa is highly recommended! The whole experience was lovely and my friend enjoyed it a lot too.

Eden Spa
