Horrible Haircut

I do not recommend going to this hair salon. Jean had done my hair and clearly had no experience doing curly hair whatsoever. She left me as a complete mess when she was done. Completely went ahead and did her own thing when I had simply asked her for a trim and shaping. When asked if I wanted to layer and thin a bit I said ok when she recommended that I do. She hacked at it so much that what was once thick became so thin. I came in with beautiful hair and left with an ugly haircut or rather disaster. (Review not yet verified)

Difficult to manage, plenty flyaway

I think that the haircuts aren't good at all. In my opinion, the style and techniques are old fashioned and honestly, wrong. Ended up having hair that is so difficult to manage daily ( weird fringe and plenty of flyaways) Had to go to another salon to get it fixed. The salon always have their stylist and the boss discussing in Cantonese about the pricing and the customer thinking that the customer can't understand. Unfortunately, I do. Goodness. I am not Ever Going Back.

Too upset and tired to argue

Bought a groupon recently and went there for a perm. My voucher states that it is inclusive of cut, wash, blow, perm, treatment and scalp therapy. Was welcomed by this auntie, was very nice, kept offering me hot tea and replacing it when it went cold. But she kept saying things like "next time don't buy groupon, we don't earn any money". i was served by their "creative director". Usually when i go to other salons, if they ask me to use better products, it will usually be an additional of $10-$30. But he charged me additional of $70 for "better product". The treatment was just leaving conditioner in your hair for a few minutes. And the "scalp therapy" was just a shoulder and neck massage by a china girl. after perming i realize he didn't layer my hair at all, just straight cut it away which makes a perm looks ridiculous. i went to pay my bill after. i expected to pay only an extra $70 but my bill ended up being $130+. i realize i was being charged an additional $60 for a hair cut. I was already too upset and tired to argue. So i just paid and left.

Conned me into spending more

I did perming their 2 days back. Firstly they conned me into spending 80 S $ more and said they will do some gel treatment which is better than the 88 s $ coupon I already bought. And then the screwed up my whole hair. I kept telling them I want big waves they gave me Maggie waves which doesn't even look like it's. . It's look like someone took an iron and flattened the Maggie. And then they told me I should have told them about my karaten treatment. Which was done last year. . And by they way isn't the hair dresser suppose to be asking that first instead of selling me some bull shit which she claims was better for my hair condition. And now I can't even leave my hair down. It's ridiculous. All she needed do was tell me it can't be done.. I wouldn't have cared about wasting the 88S$.. now I've spent 168S $ and I can't even leave my hair down.. its so bad..

Absolutely atrocious

Did a perm there and it was absolutely atrocious. My hair turned out much frizzier than when I'd started with. And she did not even wash my hair but attempted to pull through all my knots with a tiny toothed comb (even tho my hair is curly already) which made it even frizzier, and then did the perm.

How is this a deal?!

Recently bought a perm + treatment voucher. On the voucher, it states ‘Different hair perm styles available: normal, digital and water perm’. But when i asked for digital perm, the stylist said i had to top up $80 for digital perm. I went ahead with the digital perm and while i did my hair, i checked the groupon app to make sure that was what is stated. At the cashier i said ‘But this voucher states digital perm.’ Stylist replied ‘Oh that perm you cant get this result for your hair.’ Obviously bullshitting but what to do. After topping up , paid $168 in total for digital perm + treatment. How is this a deal?!

Best part, the owner said ‘Oh different period have different types of perms on discount. This time no digital perm for this voucher.’

Looked like a mini poodle

The stylist obviously doesn't understand that clients with medium to shorter length and thicker hair at the base have to layer the hair greatly before perming. Refuse to layer the hair. Eventually looked like a mini poodle. Had the cheek to ask for director's hair cut price when the layering was badly done after requesting for it at least 4 times. Clueless sense of styling for permed hair.

Mediocre salon

Mediocre salon. Bought voucher for volume rebonding but actual service turned out to be normal soft rebonding. Felt very cheated, as they are completely different perms but styles claimed "its already the same la". Unprofessional, lack of ample hairstyling knowledge, too busy gossiping with other stylists loudly to the expense of customers around. Pushy too, overall a horrible experience.

Small portion of the inner hair were damaged

My friend and I had bought voucher for rebonding services for two pax online. One voucher cost us $65. I had called in the Saloon to double confirm on the services as stated in the Vouchers before purchase was done to make sure there is no additional/hidden charge. ( I had double confirmed with this saloon , there will be no charges for all the hair length , and the shiseido chemical product will be used on our rebonding hair session).

A upon arriving the saloon on Saturday, we were served by two different hair stylist. My friend was served by a guy, and I was served by a China staff Lady. We was told that Shiseido rebond cream will be used for our rebonding that day before starting but they recommend another type of cream which was from Korea, Mondora cream. They only explain 3 type of the chemical product effect but did not mention on the pricing. Hence, after their explanation on the 3 chemical products, we decided to use the Korea, Mondora product. After the chemical cream applied on my hairs and then we had been told to pay additional $80 for this Mondora cream for our long hair length. This was been too shock and too much of angry as they did not tell us the pricing before they applied on hair chemical cream on my hair. When they told us the charges, they mentioned that the Shiseido will have additional charge of $50 too and L’oreal will be free of charge. Their words was totally different from what they told us earlier on.

When we were bargaining on the cost, they told us the voucher was too cheap deal and definitely will have additional charges. The guy who served my friend even told us that the voucher company will only reimbursed them 50% of the amount we paid .After sometimes on the arguing, The guy charge me $60 for no informing me on the additional cost before hand while my friend was charge $80 as yet to start applying the cream.

After the rebonding process, we have another hair treatment which come with rebonding. Hair treatment done was also very brief and not like a treatment. We were sitting on the hair washing chair with no steamer or anything! they just leave the conditioner on your hair for few minutes, i believe i can do this by myself at home. And the treatment help my hairs smooth!

After few hours sitting there with anger and hard sales talk by them, our hairs was done and we make our way for payment. And again, the pricing on my friend’s invoice was different from what they told her. $80 for mondora cream become $85 when making payment. Hence, my friend felt cheated ,angry and directly argued with them for the price again. Therefore, they agreed to charge my friend $80 as agreed earlier on.

My friend get too angry for her rebonding result as the small portion of her inner hair were damaged like ”over burnt” after done the rebonding . After so much of the disappointment, my friend had lost faith in this salon and not intend to go back for any argument. End up she had to waste money to look for other salon to give remedy on her damaged hair.We totally won’t give any support for this saloon again.

I regretted going in to that store

Went there recently with my friend and what I can say is “I WILL NEVER GO TO THAT PLACE AGAIN” (this is really what I’ve experience and I never add anything to it!)
It was my first time trying to find a salon to dye my hair and my friend want to have a haircut too. So after lunch my friend and I decided to walk around and look for the cheapest salon. (p.s we are just student and we don’t have the capability to spend so much money on hair) we even did our research about most of the salon located at far east. After walking so many times at far east we decided to settle down at this salon ‘Francis and jean salon’ many of the review stated that it is a good salon and worth trying so we went in to that salon and the counter served us and gave us a cup of tea. After we went inwe sat there for like 10 minutes but no one served us. The lady asks me to look at the colour at the book so I did. Then the counter told us that the shop is busy so the lady boss will come and do for us. So the lady boss ask me “have you decide on the colour?” I replied “oh may I know why there is two different shade yet both has the same number code?” she replied “the lighter tone need to bleach while the darker one doesn’t need to bleach” I say “okay I will go with this colour”
A short moment later this male hairstylist start to approach my friend and ask her which length she want to cut off she replied him and he look at the scalp and say “oh your scalp very dry need to do some treatment” my friend agreed to it because she wouldn’t thought it will be that expensive. After that this guy keep asking us random question like how old we are guess how old is him (don’t know if he is trying to friendly or what). later he ask what colour have I decided so I told him and he asked me to do highlight and the highlight is purple I say well does that purple need to bleach? He said “no don’t have to bleach.” I was thinking “hmmm your boss told me need to bleach but you told me not need.” Then I say “I will consider again later.” So the lady boss come and dyes my hairbut the way she did is so rushing. She told the guy that within 10 mins and she will be done. When washing my hair off the lady boss washed my hair so hardly and even use hot water later she use extremely cold water. I couldn’t relax myself over there I was so tense! She even splashed water on my face.
Then after she dried my hair the guy say let me do your highlight boss say “not needI charge her $80 already” he replied “she said she want” then he asked me “so how?” Then I replied “Oh I think I don’t want to do already. I’m rushing for time” He replied me “you have disappointed me” I was thinking what?! I’m your customer yet you are there trying to ask me do this and that! And lastly you told me you are disappointed in me!
When I went to pay the billmy friend was shock that hers hair service cost $111!
Overall we think the service is so badly done (even worst that it is the lady boss who served us!) and the colour didn’t come out obvious! I would rather dye my own hair at home!
I regretted going in to that store!!

This is kind of a mess up salon that I’ve been to so far

Huiting and Me did our perm at Francis and Jean @ Far East Plaze; a hair styling salon with many positive reviews online. However, my experience with them is not a positive one.

As usual, the shop will upsell their services to you. Promising you that they will make your hair will look nice etc. But during the whole perming experience is horrible.

1) They have shortage of curler !!!. She and HT’s hairstylist are discussing about the shortage and how they can distribute the curler.

2)My hairstylist just curl my hair and thereafter just MIA. She did not attend much to me after curling the hair. She just go andattend to another client. She’s helping the other client with makeover. =x

3) They have shortage of digital perm heating machines. Another stylist keep walking over to aim at the machine. He wants to take it away for his own client. Again, he spoke so loud about the shortage of the digital perming machine. HT and I hear it clearly. We are so disappointed with the services.

4)Not long after, the hair stylist who is aiming at the digital perm machine just switch of the machine and took for his own use. Then, my stylist realised and asked how long my hair had been heated. OMG!!! No one know how long my hair had been heated. Is it sufficient or insufficient? It’ a BIG QUESTION MARK!!! Then later she just say my hair is short so no need to heat very long… What kind of service is that?

5)The whole perming process is having a number of different people attending to you… Long waiting tim… and everything just like a mess… Shortage of equipments here and there…. Confusion… Inexperience of staff.

This is kind of a mess up salon that I’ve been to so far. The perm is so so. Nothing impressive too. I’ll never pay $145 and go back to the same hair salon again.

Francis and Jean Digital Perm Review

I did digital perm at Francis and Jean at far east this morning.. The hair stylist curl my hair n clip it to hold the curls and den attach to a very complicated machine with lots of wire that produces heat.. Waited for 10 minutes.. After that he took out everything and apply the holding liquid to hold the curls and another 10 minutes.. Lastly, wash away everything, trim, blow dry and style.. The whole process took about 2 hours.
Oh ya this is my hair stylist his name is Wilson.. He is very nice..
Offer to buy lunch for me coz he know that the process will take some time and I haven had lunch yet.. I din ask him to buy for me of coz.. Who knows mayb he jus ask for the sake of asking??? Haha! Ok la it’s the heart that counts.. Well.. at least i still have my milk tea..

The thing I like about him is that he explains everything to me very clearly and he doesn’t lie.. (although it’s abit disappointing to know that the nice smooth flowy perm i really wanted is impossible) Some hairstylist promise but don’t deliver.. I really hate those..
He is very focus while curling my hair.. If u look at how he segment the hair (pic above) u know this hair stylist goes into detail.. The happiest thing of all is that he made my stubborn fringe go 1 side.. I cant do it no matter how hard i try.. Yea.. So if u decided to do ur hair there, u can ask him to do for u..
This is how my hair looks like after the perm.. Not exactly what I wanted coz I really wan those smooth flowy perm.. Wilson say it is impossible to get those smooth flowy hair unless u use a curler.. Moreover, my hair is rebonded.. Very dry and hard.. Can perm alrdy considered not bad.. This is the 3rd time I perm my hair and also the best perm compared to the other 2 I did in the past..
To sum up, it is impossible to get permanent nice flowy perm.. All perms will turn out frizzy.. U hav to either tong it, or blow n style it to make it nice.. So permed hair is not suitable for lazy pple like me n I think this is the last time I perm my hair and I will keep straight hair from now on not bcoz I don like my hair now but I think I m jus too lazy..

Oh u wanna know how much I pay for it? Digital perm is not cheap plus trimming hair there’s additional charge.. Normal price I think the perm is about $100 and cut is about $30.. But bcoz I hav some special discount, I paid $65 for the perm and $8 for the cut and I added a treatment for $20.. (actually I think I shouldn’t add that $20 treatment but well.. Haha..) so I paid $93 altogether.. Ok la reasonable price..

Oh btw, I m still hoping to get permanent nice flowy perm.. (praying very hard..) Haha..
If u know of any kind of perm or any salon able to produce such perm, pls pls pls tell me kkz?!

*Things to take note
Pls call or go down to check and confirm the price b4 u do ur hair.. Coz diff pple may quote u diff price eg. Boss may quote u cheaper while employee wouldn’t dare to anyhow giv discount..

Rate: 4/5

My New Hair!!

I went to my salon today (Francis & Jean at Far East Plaza) to rebond my hair. Well, technically, I don't need to rebond my hair, as it's already rather straight and smooth... but I just want that extra sleekness.. this is only my 2nd time rebonding, the first one was 3 years back. My hair stylist knows me well enough, or rather my hair condition, to give me a very soft rebonding, not those flat out type that will leave my ears sticking out because the hair has been flatten overboard.I ended up with ultra smooth and sleek hair, and it will look this way for at least 2 years to come!I paid $160 for the rebonding treatment and cut, and I also purchased a Shiseido treatment shampoo to alternate with my daily one. It may not be the cheapest one around, but for both the treatment (the salon uses Shiseido products) and the cut, it is well worth, besides I trust her to do a good job for this.

One of the best haircutting experience

Francis and Jean. $24 for haircut and hairwash.. sounds acceptable so I went ahead. The hairdresser was superrrrrrrrrrr patient with me! I think I'm a super fussy customer.. She cut my hair bit by bit.. afraid that I might not be able to "take the blow" of having more than 20cm worth of my hair on the ground haha! She is super meticulous! She took notice of every single strand of stray hair. I think it was like one of the best haircutting experience in my life LOL. And I'm not even exaggerating!
