Fraud

Have a long time package there for underarm hair removal, the China woman at J8 came over to attend to me and remarked" today you are here to do underarm and guasha facial." I was startled and said, "no just underarm." She gave me bad slipshod service and then I heard her complaining" this customer is a waste of my time" in mandarin. Be careful to clarify what treatment you are doing guys in case you get tricked to pay for unwanted treatments. (Review not yet verified)

The time gap is just not right

Regina's unlimited plan only allows one treatment every 2 months, which doesn't make sense cos it does not match the typical hair growth cycle. All my hairs are growing back again, making this an absolutely waste of time, money and effort. (Review not yet verified)

Bad service

I called up Regina (bishan) to fix an appt for an underarm KPL treatment on 14/11/15 (sat). The staff who received the call did not understand my request and without putting the phone on hold, passed the phone to Mico who was talking to another client...

Appointment was confirmed after ding donging for a while.

Upon arrival, I decided to signed up for the underarm KPL treatment (life time membership).

1) Mico was not friendly, talking robotically

2) During the course of treatment by another Malay lady, (cant remember her name), who used an electric shaver to shave off my underarm hairs HURRIEDLY, and with DEEP shaves...

3) Also, she did not pre-warn me whenever she applied cold cream over my underarm area, etc

4) While shaving another side, I alerted her not to shave too deeply, instead of complying, she hurriedly moved the shaver along my breast area which again, I TOLD her off.

Frankly, I am still perplexed by what happened. The thought of going back in 8 weeks time truly piss me off.

Sigh.

Strip VS Regina for IPL Review

Japanese staff made the environment very polite and I’m impressed with how swift and efficient the IPL process was.
Pricing point was optimal and targets at the general working ladies who feels that Strip was on the high side.

Appointment intervals is decided by Regina. They follow the hair growth process and tells you to come back every 3 months or so for maintenance and they are pretty strict on this.

The white theme makes you feel very clean and indeed for at least the first 9 sessions, I was contented and love how clean the room is.
On the 10th session, I was brought to a room where used towels and used tissues were thrown on the floor – makes me worry if the towels provided to me was even washed.

After that I provided a feedback through the official website and received nothing.

Yesterday, the towels were again mushy and there’s still used tissues on the floor.
The place has become quite a dumping ground.

One common complaint I’ve heard is that they use an electric shaver prior to IPL.
I have no idea if they do sterilize the shaver blade though, but to counter it, I just shave before I go for my appointment.

Yesterday, the therapist Michelle made me feel like a log of pork in a slaughter house. The process was hasty and rough.
Gel was smeared all over my arms and not cleaned off thoroughly.

Her attitude was so robotic and emotionless that I wonder if she’s hating her job so much that she’s taking it out on the customer.

Michelle asked me to purchase a few other packages as if her sales speech was memorised from a book.
The level of selling has deteriorated when it first started.

I bought the packages from another cheerful lady (whom i didnt get her name) and felt very happy after purchasing them even if I didn’t really need it.

Before I left, Michelle set the next appointment with me and gave me an obvious-fake smile that was really unnecessary.

I had my good eyes on Regina and expected them to do well after my first encounter with them.

It’s indeed quite sad to know that they couldn’t keep up.
I know that they have a few other outlets in the island, and the polite japanese staff might have been transferred out.

It is probably alright to give it a shot with the outlets who has polite staffs and if you are price sensitive.
However, it’s a SURE NO-GO for the Hitachi Towers Outlet.

KPL HAIR REMOVAL: AN UPDATE

People have been asking me about my KPL hair removal sessions at Regina so I guess it’s time for an update.

I started with this whole KPL thing last September, and I’ve only had four so far because you can only have one session every eight weeks. A bit of a bummer, to be honest, because I’m told some companies let you have one session a month, but it’s supposed to have something to do with your hair growth cycle and stuff, which I can’t really dispute because I don’t know anything about it. Also you can only have them done in one branch; transfers are not allowed (I guess to control the number of clients?). I have mine at the Central branch. It’s not the nearest one but they don’t have too many customers so it’s easy to get appointments.

Except for the initial session which would take about an hour because of the orientation and patch test, each visit takes about ten minutes, tops. Sometimes the attending staff explains the procedure to you and performs the routine checks (e.g. make sure it’s not that time of the month and you did not take any medication prior to treatment), sometimes they don’t say anything and just get on with it. So it would be a good idea to pay attention during the first treatment (although I didn’t :p). The pain level doesn’t change over the course of the treatment, still that mild rubberband-snapping feeling which, if you have waxed or epilated before, should be peanuts. Oh, and they still have free candy (which I keep on getting like a crazy kid let loose).

I’m not sure it’s fair to comment about the results so far because they did tell me it can take up to 8 sessions to get noticeable change, but I can say that while there is still hair growth, it is significantly slower – comparable to the growth rate when I use an epilator – and the hair is also finer. Although I do feel that after maybe 6 weeks post-treatment it’s back to normal thickness, but maybe that’s because I shave? Speaking of, the staff recommends that you refrain from shaving as much as possible, but that’s just not going to happen because I don’t fancy wearing a sweater everyday.

I also can’t comment about the whitening claims because I use a whitening deodorant and I can’t really isolate the results. Although you only get the treatment once every eight weeks so I really doubt it can give you significant whitening.

So I guess what I’m saying is I can’t say for sure if it is 100% effective or not, because I have to wait for a couple more sessions. I can say that if you’re looking for instant hair removal, then this is not it – you’d have to hold on to that razor for at least a year. You don’t have to use it as often, because hair growth is slower, but you do have to use it.

I can also say that this is so much better than using an epilator. For one, the pain is a hundred notches lower, and the regrowth rate is about the same. And if you get a Groupon voucher, the prices are comparable (as long as we’re talking about underarms and not legs because that’s a whole other story). And do take note that once you start your KPL sessions you will not be allowed to wax or epilate. Ever. So if you have an upcoming vacation where you would prefer to wax and be hair-free for a week, it would be wise to postpone the KPL sessions until after that.

So there. Do I get noticeable results? Yes. Am I wowed by it? Not really, but we’ll have to see.
Needless to say, it’s not gonna be the same for everybody, but this is how it is for me. Leave a comment if you have questions.
Updates after the 8th session, I promise. ^^

My underarms have feelings too.Regina IPL hair removal treatment.

Whoever decided that women should shave their underams must have an underarm as smooth as the face.

Today I had my first IPL underarm hair removal treatment and I’m very happy that I went to Regina at Suntec City, Singapore.
I’ve been meaning to get an underarm laser hair removal treatment and finally I got the time and the courage to give it a go. Due to positive reviews, I decided to book my underarms a date with Regina. Regina is the solution to every “it’s-hard-being-a-woman” dramas, specializing in hair removal to almost every part of a woman’s body. I was extremely excited to have my first laser treatment and Regina have met my expectations, from customer service, place hygiene, specialist, treatment proper, reasonable charges to patient care. I especially like the way the specialist explained the process of getting IPL-ed, plus they’re not pushy for sales at all.

They do check important aspects of your lifestyle and health history before deciding whether or not you’re fit enough to undergo treatment. I appreciate this process.

I was attended by Michelle. She was very nice, polite and honest. It was very comfortable talking to her about hairy topics.

After the consultation, I was given a few minutes to think through things and this time I felt sad for the poor little hairs I plan to destroy for the rest of my life. To sign or not to sign:

And I did sign, but of course! Fast forward to where I bid my hairs ba-bye ~ the treatment room. Whatever happens inside this room stays in this room. Michelle was also my therapist, explaining to me every application to keep me relaxed. I was asked to change my upper garment and wear what looked like a pair of goggles.

How did it feel? A lot of rubber band snapping and heat sensations! The whole pinching feeling was tolerable and it only lasted 5 to 7 minutes.

After the first treatment, Michelle advised me not to shave, pluck or epilate. The hair will still grow but will ‘fall off’ on its own. I will need to have 4 to 6 sessions before my superunderarms become totally bald.

Overall, my Regina IPL hair removal experience was perfect. I highly recommend Regina to all ladies out there who are considering breaking up with their unwanted underarm hairs.

What’s the best thing about being a woman? At least one woman always survives in horror flicks.

UPDATE A: 2nd IPL (once every 2 months) ~ 2 weeks after my 1st IPL, the new hairs were growing very slowly. I had to wait for almost 10 days before I can actually shave them off. To my surprise, I didn’t have to shave cos the whole “the hair will fall off on its own” thing is true! I just used a towel to wipe the hairs ba-bye. Today I’m having my 2nd IPL and let’s see what happens after a week. I’m guessing my UA is mad at me now

UPDATE B: I had my 3rd IPL session last week and after just 6 days results have been amazing, time to throw an underarm partey! There are still fine hairs growing but for this week I only need to shave once to maintain my hair-free underarms. I still have 2 to 3 sessions to complete, so let’s see, hopefully I only have to shave once every two weeks.

UPDATE C: 3 weeks after my 3rd IPL ~ Wow. I can’t believe I didn’t bother shaving my UArms this week, and last week. Fine hairs are becoming very fine hairs…skin is smoothER…do I still need to undergo a 4th session?

UPDATE D: 4th IPL ~ I have decided to undergo and complete another round of rubber band snapping experience, my 4th IPL session. Prior to the treatment, I already shaved the tiny baby hairs I mentioned last time. At this point, I am already satisfied with the appearance of my UA but I was advised to complete at least 8 sessions to finally graduate from this whole laser experience. Yes, I still shave but not more than twice a month.

UPDATE E: 5th IPL ~ this is it! After my 5th IPL session, hair didn’t grow for a good 2 months. After that, only gentle shaving is needed but I do it only once every 2 weeks. IPL works! OMG
