Bad service, rude staff and not the result I asked for!
Do not NOT recommend this salon at all! Had the worst customer experience and ended up with hair shorter than I wanted with highlights that were supposed to be balayage, both not what I asked for. All this while paying $530, which was more than I was quoted in the beginning. I went for the first time based on a recommendation from my sister who got her hair colored by Elin and was excited to try a new salon. Elin started with a consultation and I decided to do balayage without base color and a haircut, leaving out hair treatment. She showed me a video of someone’s cut and balayage she had done and I liked it so I said I’d like the same. She cut my hair shorter than I told her with a layering technique I didn’t ask for but I assumed maybe she was just getting rid of the split ends. She was busy juggling another client as well so someone else colored my hair and put olaplex treatment while washing my hair even though I said no for a treatment that day (I wanted to try the frizz repair treatment another day). When she finished coloring and toning my hair and started to dry it, I realized it was not similar to the video I was shown. She insisted it was the same until we opened the video to compare and then she said it’s actually different because the lady in the video got a brown base color to make the balayage stand out more. I got really upset at this point since this was something she should have told me beforehand so I would know the result would be different or I could have chosen something else. She then insisted she can fix it by washing out some color. After doing so, she proceeded to style my hair again and it had become brassy colored which looked terrible. She left me with another hair stylist so I had to get up and find her in the salon to tell her this is 100% not what I wanted. She then got annoyed at me and told me to sit down and started putting color all over my hair without saying anything. She washed my hair again and while the brassy color was gone at least, I realized she had taken the easy way out and put a base color into my hair (which I clearly specified I didn’t want) and would make my roots show in weeks to come. By this point I was so stressed from the process of having sat down for over 5 hours without having been asked if I even wanted water or going for bathroom break, and to have ended up with shorter layered hair and highlights which I wanted neither of. At that point, I just wanted to LEAVE. When I went to the payment counter and saw I was charged more than I was quoted initially I lost any patience I had left. Elin then came and cut me off and started talking in a rude tone. Disappointed, tired and upset, I paid and got out of there. This is a salon disguising itself as a premium hair coloring place that does not live up to its reputation at all. Sorry to say I will never come back here nor will I recommend this to any of my friends. (Review not yet verified)

Unexpected for a salon with such rave reviews
Went for a specific colouring package that was heavily promoted online. Nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary until the highlighting was done by 2 different people (one on each side) which I found odd as balance is pretty hard to achieve with 2. I put it down to their experience working together and kept mum. Completed the entire process, and upon payment had a rude shock, with many items added to my bill which was not explained to me as chargeable, and I was under the assumption that it was included in the package.
When I clarified, they then mentioned that the treatment given to me was a different type. By then everything was done, I felt that there was no point arguing and just paid up. Upon getting home, my husband asked me why my hair colour looked like it was slapped on .. the highlights were not “weaved” if you know what I mean, but in solid 2cm BLOCKS. I returned the next day to get it “fixed” but it still looks like I have blocks of dyed hair, not highlights - and was charged for wash and blow “only”. The only saving grace was that the stylist was very nice and kind (but can’t say much for the result I got)... I put down the lack of transparency to the way the salon is run. So $600 poorer, and a month later, I am heading to yet another place to fix the mess I have. PM me if you want photos of my slabs of what’s supposed to be highlights.

Reliable Stylist!
I've never found a stylist that I can really stick to until I met Aaron Hiew from Wisma Salon Vim! He's a meticulous hairstylist who takes a lot of pride in his hairdressing services. He listens to my opinion and often gives his professional inputs to help me decide on the hairstyle. I've been loving my short hair ever since!
His favourite line is "i'll do what you want" and what he really meant by that is that he respects his customers' opinions and it's important to help them achieve their desired look. Very funny guy too! Highly recommend Aaron if you're looking for a reliable stylist!

disappointed, bad service, overrated
I first visited salon vim 313 many years back when they were still small and starting up. disappointed by that first visit, I ever did return for years until last week when I decided to give their new outlet at wisma atria a second chance. I saw their recent hair contouring service and decided to try this service especially after their many transformation photos on IG. things started off well with a consult followed by a very quick hair cut by senior stylist. however, the nightmare began from the haircoloring service. this being a prep for my upcoming wedding, I wanted to rid off my washed off yellow hair color and have a fresh change. the stylist chose a deep base color which I am cool with but I wanted to amped it up with balayage or highlights, whichever works best. The stylist decided on babylights and man did this babylights turn out to be no lights at all! I was in a rush that day and hastily went off after the color wash and semi dry. (bad decision, but it was my bad for being in rush, hence I did not blame it on the salon). I went off the salon feeling so lousy over my hair. giving it a benefit of doubt, i decided to leave my hair color as it is over the weekend. things did not get better and i continue to feel as lousy over it, especially thinking that this is how my hair will be for my wedding made it even worse. i contacted the hairstylist to relook at my hair on Monday and i felt painfully awful during this revisit. the stylist pointed the fault at me of miscommunication and if i wanted to redo the color, additional charges apply. else he could simply touch up with more highights color. of cos i went with the touch up, as long as it can make me look good. on top of that, i went ahead with a double serum since according to him, is a highly raved treatment. the reason i felt so awful during this revisit was because the stylist deemed the fault to be on me. instead of giving expert consult, things became more of \i will do what you want\" attitude. I seriously did not expect such kind of mentality of messing up you client's hair for wedding prep and now giving me just what i want instead of what is best." the hair stylist tried to push me to buy a treatment packagewhich you readers out there need to be careful of! he would out off as saving $100 per treatment but that is not so as they are trying to sell you the suite of haircare products. if you work your math you are in fact paying more than the normal treatment price. alsothe membership fee of $50 paid upfront WITH GST did not make sense. though this $50 will be pai back to you the next visit you have to pay GST which will not be refunded to you. It is not a lot of money but the entire principle of it is wrong since you have to pay GST and not get refunded . Overall i am utterly disappointed with the skills of the senior hairstylistthe quality of customer service and especially the bad attitude given by the senior hairstylist during my entire 2 times of visitMy hair is messed up even after spending close to $700 on it. and having my wedding happening in less than 3 weeks makes me so helpless now. my sincere advice to all you out there Do not get deceived by the beautiful pictures featured on the IG and reviews of salon vim. They are highly ripped off and even as quoted by the senior hairstylist himself \"their hair looks good because it is styled by stylist daily. it will not be so for you!

They are very honest with you
I’m back to colour my hair after they saved my brittle and broken hair the last time around.
I reached slightly later than my appointment time – 2.15pm today. The receptionist were nice and thoughtful. She asked me to sit down at the area with a big sofa seat while she was serving another customer. After say about 5 minutes or so, she led me to my seat and asked me for the drink I preferred. They did not have cold milo but she proactively added ice inside the milo for me.
After waiting for a while, John came over for consultation. I showed him the Colour that I wanted and he was honest about the fact that this Colour wouldn’t last. He explained that on different hair textures, the fading of the hair Colour would vary. He suggested that I do olaplex first to strengthen my hair as my hair is pretty dry. The hair technician came and explained why he needed to spray water on my hair and etc. He then proceeded to apply the olaplex treatment on my hair with a lot of care.
After the colouring process which took about less than an hour, the technician proceed on to do the pro fiber and collagen treatment. I did the collagen treatment first – it is a unique treatment that Salon Vim came up with using marine placenta collagen. They locked in the first treatment using nano mist.
The second treatment is the L’Oreal pro fiber treatment which saved my broken hair the other time. To allow the treatment to penetrate better, a cold iron was used. John came and checked on my hair a couple of times. He also added an additional pink to bring out the colour.
The service ended with a very comfortable hair wash and head massage which made me fall asleep while my hair was being pampered. I have been to many hair salons and so far, Salon Vim’s technicians and stylists are one of the best.
Price wise, I think the price I paid was reasonable given that I did 3 treatments and colouring. The thoughtfulness of the staff and hair stylist would definitely bring me back here again! They are very honest with you and are not pushy towards buying products or packages!

My hair ended up looking round and puffy
I went to the highly raved salon vim and had John Tham as my stylist since i saw quite a few friends going to him and had really nice haircut. But apparently, even though he manage to give my hair some shape but it ended up looking really round and puffy. I finally conclude that no one can cut my short hair as good as kat. Sigh, spent a whole $220 to get a not satisfying haircut and a hair dye which I can easily do it myself.

If this was a movie review, i’ll give it 5 out of 5 popcorns
First of all, I am not a blogger. (though at times i secretly i wish i were one because that would mean i don’t have to pay for my hair services) I was first introduced to Salon Vim by one of my friends who is an avid blog reader. I was intrigued because she was already raving about the Salon’s hair coloring techniques even though she has not visited them. I came across a few posts of John Tham’s works on Instagram and started following him thereafter. Initially, i was impressed by the posts on the ombré and balayage colors but did not consider getting my hair colored due to my profession. I was, however, aware that i needed a perm and John’s post on, “texturizing perm” caught my eye immediately. I texted John, asked a few questions and made my appointment immediately!
For the record, i’ve had my hair permed for at least 10 times the past 5 years and because of my hair texture, the curls never seemed to last. I also admit that i have never been faithful to any hairstylists or salons because i used to have my hair cut in Japan and have never found anyone in Singapore or Malaysia who could deliver the same. I don’t want to exaggerate but John’s skills amazed me. One snip, and i know he is the one! Haha! I have fine and thin hair so my hair always appears flat and limp. But John’s cut made my hair look so much thicker instantaneously even before a blow or perm.
Needless to say, the perm turned out amazing. I loved it! The waves were just right, in fact, the curls look even more defined after a redken cocktail treatment. I believe most should have already read about the wonders of the cocktail treatment, hence i shan’t elaborate.
I’m not sure about the rest of you, but i have always wanted to learn to blow my hair with a round brush but my previous hairstylists have all brushed me off by either saying that one can not do this alone or that it is too time consuming, etc. Determined, i have never gave up trying, though the result is always a lump of hair entangled together. I shared this with John and he did not hesitate to share his knowledge. He patiently showed me how i can do it while holding the hair dryer and even passed the brush and hair dryer for me to experience doing it so he can correct me while I try.
I can’t wait to try out what i’ve learned and did so immediately after washing my hair 2 days after. Guess what? I have now mastered the art of blowing my hair with a round brush. No more entangled hair! My curls look even more volumninous and thick!
I would love to post a timeline of my waves but I can’t seem to paste a picture here.
Anyways, the curls lasted for almost 9 months until the “itchy bottom” me decided to color my hair in JB because John was fully booked during the CNY season. I loved the color but my hair turned out extremely dry so i made an appointment with John a week after CNY for a treatment session. John had to trim the hair ends as they were beyond cure. As he had to snip off quite a bit of the dry areas, my curls were almost gone. I requested for a perm after the treatment and John tried dissuading me as he was afraid my hair would be extremely brittle after that. One thing I like about John was that he was not a pusher like some hairstylists who I have visited in the past. He cares about my hair and does not push products or services just to earn more. When he feels that the service you have requested would hurt your hair, he would try to dissuade you from doing it.
The stubborn me insisted of course. The waves came out natural, not as dry as I had expected after the redken treatment.
After washing, my hair went back to straight again. It did not come as a shock because due to the fineness of my hair, perms never last and moreover my hair was in a bad state. I texted John immediately and he asked that I see him when he’s back from his Japan trip. I was busy at work that week so I totally forgot that I had to do my hair. I was extremely touched because John did not forget about my text after his trip and even took the initiative to ask when I was free to visit him so he could take a look at my hair. When I finally visited John, John offered to change my hair style because he did not want me to continue living with dry and brittle hair ends. I was cautious in the beginning because he suggested chopping off a few inches and doing a perm to curl my ends in. I love having my hair long, but I knew I could trust John so I agreed.
The result was fabulous. Everyone commented that I looked better with short fringe and shoulder length hair and my tresses looked healthier because the dry ends were chopped off. John even offered to waive the charges for me since it was a return trip. I understand some may feel that Salon Vim’s services are a little more expensive or that it is hard to arrange an appointment with John especially during the weekends. For me, even though at times some of the services were not done personally by John, but it is John’s advice to me, to his assistant that is crucial. John is definitely worth to sacrifice a day’s leave and I really don’t mind splurging on something worthy of the price.
If this was a movie review, i’ll give it 5 out of 5 popcorns. See to believe!

Not enough attentions being paid
i shall be frank to say that i love salon vim’s cut and styling and have been visiting them for tell past two years, albeit not regularly as i am a little lazy. i especially like John’s cut as its very natural.
however, i now have seconds thoughts about revisiting as i get the sense that not enough attentions being paid to me as a customer. the one time i see the stylist is the few minutes before i begin any work on my hair and when he cuts it. when i was recommended to do the cocktail treatment, there wasn’t even any communication with me to understand what are my hair concerns and what are the target treatments for me. all that happened was the assistant proceeding with the mix ans then applying it directly to my hair. this is entirely what is depicted by the bloggers they sponsor. but of cos who am i to expect the service they get. heck, i wasn’t even offered any biscuits before. i was once asked if i had my dinner (i said no) and it was way past dinner time and not even a piece of biscuit was provided to me.
the service has come to a point to a point it’s turning me off and i’m deciding to switch to either essensuals or shunji matsuo. i suppose it has to do with stylist as the service was much better before he was that popular and i had better experience with another leas popular stylist there but i didnt like hos coloring. btw, service at chez vouz (which they seem affiliated with) is absolutely better.

Saturday Date w/ SALON VIM
So coincidence, Michelle whatsapp me after seeing my tweet that I’m heading to Salon Vim….& we were in the same train!!! So qiao lahs…LOL!! But this Mich very cute de, she was telling me as her usual salon was fully booked; she decided to try out Salon Vim after hearing all the WOWSSS reviews. Asked her which stylist she requested, she say she nv request -.- Then I tell her, “Scarly they assigned a director to TRIM ur hair”. She panicccccc…HAHAHAHAHA :p Luckily there is still a senior stylist – Katherine for her…whom I feel she did an awesome job to Mich’s bob hairstyle. She looks so chiiiiooo after the haircut, but too bad din mng to take any pics with her cos she was rushing to meet her friends. Apparently, her haircut process took a lil’ too long, 1 & 1/2hrs to trim her alrdy tidy bob -.- TOO DETAILED as quoted by Michelle. But worth the $$$ mahs :p
Back to my appt!! Salon Vim was quite pack that day & we only manage to sit in only arnd 5pm. Bought myself a pair of pastel yellow shorts from MANGO during this 15mins of waiting :SSSS Must buy de lahs… discounted from $49 to $29 lehs!!!!!!
Have been wanting to try Salon Vim’s services which I blog here. Fixed my appt 3 wks ago after checking all the rates. Shall summarise all the enquiries I’ve checked
Quote bloggers’ name: 10% off full hair services; meaning no discount for trimming of fringe, wash & blow etc….
Purchase Membership Card:
1) 15% off full hair services;
2) 20% on top of the 15% on ur birthday mth.
$53.50 ($50 credit + 7% gst which is non-refundable). You have to drop by Salon Vim at least 1 day before to purchase the membership card in order for u to utilize the $50 credits & at the same time enjoy the 15% discount on the day of ur appt. It seems that the card needs 1 day to activate.
There are 3 types of hairstylists at Salon Vim; i.e. Senior Stylist, Director Stylist & Director. John is Director Stylist. Their charges (not including 7% gst) as follows:-
Senior Stylist: $40 (man); $50 (woman)
Director Stylist: $50 (man); $60 (woman)
Director: $55 (man); $70 (woman)
Sat in & was welcomed with our choice of drinks & a packet of biscuit. It was only approx 15mins of “seat warming”, the very busy John then can attend to brulee & me:/ Introduced himself prior to understanding our “hair requirements” from him and also “analyzing” our hair texture.
Like what other hair-salons does, the first step is to wash our hair. Was led to a slightly dimmed “hair-washing” area by a female staff. Shampooed, followed by a 10mins head massage. After-which I was left there to wait for John while he trimmed & style brulee’s hair :X
Finally my turn after approx 45mins!! >8yrs, so far my hair condition is still doing well. If not for the location, I will have visit her more often instead of every 5-6mths or even once a yr
But but but…..i’ll definitely visit Salon Vim again during my birthday mth. SO DAMN WORTH IT….MUWAHAHAHAHAHA :p

Lovin’ my new hair! Totally soft, and straight!!
I was complaining about I wanna try a new and lighter-brown type of hair colour fading off (Plus the black ends on the top are quite obvious already!) and how my hair is very dry, so I decided to try SALON VIM for a fresh tone of colour, after seeing many blogger reviews about the salon. OMG and I think it’s God’s will as well(?) Cause while packing my room, I saw this 20% off voucher for SALON VIM (All of Salons, super coincidental!) so yeah, confirmed that I should try it. Well afterall, no harm trying something new from the salon I always go to right (Sometimes, it becomes too cliche-ish and trying something new would do you better).
I made an appointment on the Saturday afternoon. Their receptionists are very friendly and I won’t feel intimidated on and off the phone. On the day itself, I was late for half an hour despite postponing my appointment to 1 hr later already However, no one called to rush me which I am thankful for. Felt really guilty, but upon my arrival they treated me quite well still (:
There was this lady who led me to a seat and immediately placed many copies of Magazines on the table infront of me. She then asked what beverage I wanted. I had a cup of tea with those magazines. Shortly after, a stylist, Luis, came up to me and asked what I wanted to do. After explaining to him my ‘problem’ about wanting to try dyeing a lighter tone of brown colour, he proposed some opinions to me based on what I wanted and after I asked him ‘What he thinks suits me best’… Well, I know nuts about it so I said ‘I trust you, do whatever you think is nice!’
Finally, we mutually decided on LIGHT BROWN (Shade 12, one of the lighter-golden colours) I like the results! Show you guys later k!
Luis told his apprentice to do everything for me because it’s quite simple… Yeah, what a job!
Anyways, I sat there waiting for damn long Got a bit moody and bored.
After the dye was done, we proceeded to wash the hair. After that, this guy (His apprentice) recommended that I do a HAIR TREATMENT because my hair was really too dry. I agreed! (:
This is their latest treatment package.
I paid S$75 for it!
The thing turned RED before turning BLUE, indicating that it’s done! (:
Halfway through my treatments, the staff were nice to get me some snacks! YAY!
I happily ate it. Cause I sat there from 1.30-5pm okay! OMG so longgg!
YAY THE END RESULT! I GOT LIGHT BROWN HAIR with curls :>
Luis gave me BIG pretty princess curls which I really love!
Total bill amounted to $191. Quite expensive but worth the money!
(:
UPDATE:
Decided to try Salon Vim, for the 2nd time. 1st time round, I dye my hair there. This time, check around prices w other salons and all abt the same range so just to play safe, I decided to do soft rebonding with them despite knowing it will be expensive (thro I didn’t expect it to be THAT expensive this time:/)
John was my stylist for the day. Apprantely he’s quite senior. Oh! & he threw in a free hair treatment for me.
Started by washing my super worn out dry hair ^^
Anyways, the whole soft rebonding ended earlier than expected. YAY!!!
Lovin’ my new hair! Totally soft, and straight! But not too straight.. that’s the best part! (:
Thanks John! (:

Pretty satisfied with my side bangs!
My fringe got me quite irritated so I went to Salon Vim for a trim my very first time there!
Told John that I want a ‘side parting bangs’ (if there’s such a thing) and I was pretty satisfied with it. Looking forward to get my hair done by him again be it a haircut/treatment. I’m still in search of settling down with a hairstylist that I can trust after looking for so many years but to no avail =/

The results turn out pretty good
Finally managed to fork out some time to visit Salon Vim for a hair dye + highlight
Initially wanted to choose ash brown for the base and slightly lighter ash brown for the highlight.
John Tham, the hair stylist recommend me to try a new color base – reddish brown and ash brown for the highlight for contrast to suit my skin tone.
Decided to go ahead with his recommendations since he is so highly raved by so many bloggers!
Yay! the results turn out pretty good and i love the highlight especially
thank you!

Awesome LOVE for VIM Salon
Don’t you think the whole salon just looks so nice and comfortable? Waited awhile before the stylist came and the first impression that came to my mind was, wow i think i went to the right salon. John introduce himself followed by a firm handshake and start asking about my hair condition and how would i like to improve it. As i looked into the mirror at the image of this new hair stylist of mine, he reminded me of somebody i know yet i did not initiate to ask him about it until a point where we suddenly talked about bea and i looked at him and asked if he was from SGS and bingo!
Experience in the salon with this old friend stylist was just like the title of my entry – awesome! Would definitely go back for more pampering of the hair. Friends who like to have a nice hair cut or pampering of the hair should really try out this salon because you will never regret just like i never did. Pictures of my new hairstyle will be up soon.
