Air Salon @ The Cathay Dhoby Ghaut

A brilliant star for the massage & lovely service before the haircut. And a 2nd star for the fact that Vin gave a fairly skillful haircut. I finally understood that service is not separate from effectiveness of hairstyle though. I think this is the place for an ordinary, typical Singaporean celebrity haircut; & Not the salon to go to if you want a hairstyle that aligns with who you are.I came to Vin with a vision of my haircut; & said I trust his creativity in finding a short style to suit my face. Since he said that my vision did not suit my face, I said I'd go along with what he had in mind, as long as it's not cute, & gives a semblance of independence, with some elegance, & spirit in it. What emerged was the most girly haircut I've had in 10 years .. & I feel like an elementary school kid, albeit with a subtle edge to it.

I've never been so disappointed over any haircut in my life; & I've had quite a few $50 haircuts. I tried asking him to trim it; but he insisted that this was it, unless I waxed or permed it. & then he went straight to his next client. I cannot believe this is the only haircut possible for a practical lifestyle. I tried to ask Ark for other hairstyle options; & he basically supported Vin's opinion entirely, & even seemed to get annoyed with me after 3 mins. I will not ever return to this salon.

I have been to AIR Salon 2 times, and was attended by Ark on both occassions. Was introduced to him by my boyfriend, and has been a convert ever since. He continously help to design hair-styles which draw compliments from my friends, customers and family members every single time. The most recent visit i decided to dye my hair, after not doing so for more than three years. Kept my length around the same level, and was contemplating doing a perm when my hair got longer. We discussed on possible colors that suit me, before deciding on the ideal shade., I was alittle scared of how it will turn out, but love it so much after the whole process was done. I will definitely recommend AIR Salon to anyone who is still searching for one which they would settle with.

Visited AIR Salon after hearing about all the hype about them being the latest celebrity salon in town. Specifically asked for Ark, after reading about his portfolio and reputation. Was greeted with their so called signature Aveda tea and a hot towel. Ark was patient and we discussed about suitable haircuts for me, especially since i got coarse and naturally wavy hair. I agreed that a short neat cut would suit me despite my initial thoughts to grow longer. Love how the short cut mask away the "rough" condition of my hair and compliment my face shape. Will definitely be visiting them again!

If you are an expat don’t go here. You’ll end up with a typical cookie cutter Asian hair cut.

Read the review and booked an apt. with Ark Lin. Even showed him a picture with a wavy, shoulder length Emma stone hair cut. He decided to chop off my hair without my permission and gave me a typical bob cut look. Hate it. Never returning.

On the postive, he seemed like a really nice guy and humble like the review says. I want to be honest about the hair cut it set me back $80 short. Inexcusably bad hair cut even though if the service was great. Also, they use Aveda products at the salon. I miss being in the US and Aveda salons.

One thing is someone else was getting a perm at the same time. I didn’t like that he ha rebooked 2 appointment at the same time. If I was in a rush to go somewhere I’ve been really annoyed. One thing I’ll say is that the perm looked nice.
