There has been a resurgence in loving your own curly hair but as our inhouse Agent C would tell you, curly hair takes A LOT of work.
It's very hard for straight haired people to understand.
You really want to love your curls but when work and life comes into the picture, you can't help but look at options to manage the frizz and the curls aka straighten your curly hair.
In the past, people have either soft rebonded their hair or gone straight for full-on rebonding. What if we told you that there is a new treatment rebonding perm that could defrizz and strengthen your hair without making it too straight? Celebrity Stylist Gary from Kudos by Headlines Hairdressing worked with a manufacturer in Japan to create the one and only Rinka Argan Oil Treatment Perm.
The NEW Rinka Argan Oil Treatment Perm Lotion stands out because it can do the following:
The innovative Rinka Argan Oil Treatment Perm contains Argan oil, amino acids, Aqua S, and PPT that repair and moisten hair during the straightening / perm process. This inflicts minimal damage to the hair, allowing even fine and damaged hair to go for the perming process.
While there is mild straightening ingredients within, it doesn't make the hair artifically stick-straight. Instead, it smooths away the frizz to give it more of a sleek, #wokeuplikethis type of feel.
While we may not be that fond of the frizz that comes with wavy curly hair, some part of less still love the volume that comes together with it. Straightening curly hair will definiitely cost us some volume but the curly ends make up for some of it. Having curls at the end also help to make the overall look more cohesive.
Not sure if you noticed but curls at the top section are usually the culprit for a bad hair day as the curls here get in the way of your eyes and your face to make you feel bad about yourself. Straightening this top section therefore goes a long way to making your life easier.
Skillful stylist Ken from Kudos by Headlines Hairdressing however caution against straightening all the way to the roots.
If you straighten all the way to the roots, the eventual hairstyle will look quite flat. To keep the volume there and make it look natural when the hair grows out, I usually leave a little bit of hair and not soften 2-3cm near the roots.

Hi, I am Agent K, who is currently still studying Social Sciences at a Local U in Singapore. School ended not too long ago and I've already found an internship at a preschool working with children with special needs.
My hair is one thing I would love to be proud of... However, the amount of styling I need to do with my curly hair when I wake up at 7 am and need to be at school / work by 815am is really hard. I confess that I too have rebonded my hair every single year, like many people I know.
It will be no different this year.
It's not intentional that I've let my hair grow this long, but 2020 happened and I just didn't have the time (or money, LMAO) to go to the salon but this resulted in my students asking me this:
"Are you Rapunzel, Teacher K?"
"Are you Ms Rapunzel, Teacher?"
When the third student asked me the very same question, I knew that it was finally time to head to the salon.
Me in my natural state - after 30 minutes of wraggling with my hair every morning.
I met my own Flynn Rider in the form of Agent G, founder of Beauty Undercover. She shared that there is a new hair salon not too far from school: Kudos by Headlines Hairdressing. The salon was held to a high standard and has received many 5-star reviews for their skill and service. In fact, she told me that the stylist here (Ken) was the very first stylist who rebonded her hair and continues to perm / rebond every day for dozens of customers at affordable prices.
Interestingly, Kudos by Headlines Hairdressing was introducing a new treatment rebonding perm from Japan: Rinka Argan Oil Treatment Perm
This treatment rebonding perm doesn't just straighten hair, it reduces frizziness by treating the hair with argan oil, amino acids, PPT and Aqua S and perms to create structured waves that better match with hair regrowth.
Wow! Sounds like the perfect treatment for my darned hair so I made the appointment immediately.
Ken started the experience with a thorough wash.
Back at the seat, Ken embarked on the haircut next. I talked to him about how I wanted to go MUCH MUCH shorter than what I had now and.. he heartlessly cut my hair from waist length to chest length.
Just kidding! This perm got to last me a year so I wanted to cut it short enough so I can come back next year. So... here I am saying good riddance to a year worth of hair!
That's Ken giving me my hair cut.
A little worried he would cut his fingers while looking but hey, he's a pro.
I was told that my hair was healthy - a relief for sure - and Rinka A1 softening lotion would be used to tame my stubborn curls. You don't have to have coarse hair like mine to go for Rinka Argan Oil Treament Perm though. If you have damaged hair, Ken can use the lower-damage Rinka S1 softening lotion to still create the curls you want.
With the assistance of the hair technician, Ken applied Rinka A1 softening lotion to my hair. Ken mentioned that he would be skipping the roots as this will make sure that my hair remains relatively voluminous afterwards. The hair regrowth would also not look too obvious due to the way they applied the perm gradually. The lotion was applied to approximately 20% of my hair and left on for 30 minutes.
Then, Rinka A1 and S1 lotions were both applied to the ends of my hair to better moisturise the damaged ends before they were left on for 10 minutes.
After 40 minutes, Ken tested my hair to make sure that my hair is ready to be resculpted. I was led to the basin where he washed off the perm lotion, blew my hair dry and then used a curling iron to straighten the mid-section of the hair.
My hair was really straight at this point and I was grateful that I could opt for the best of both worlds. Stick straight hair does not suit me.
To bring back the curls, Ken wrapped my hair around the rollers.
And connected them to the heating machine for 20 minutes.
After my hair cooled down, Ken applied the Rinka Aqua Care cream to fix the new shape.
Almost done now! I couldn't wait for my final look.
Ken proceeded to apply the Aqua Care Liquid for my hair ends and left it in for 15 minutes before the final wash.
Look at my straight hair! It was the first time I permed my hair - given the horror my curls had always given me - and I was awed. This was definitely easier to manage my curls.
Not to mention, my hair was less frizzy. With this treatment perm, Ken proved my misconception that rebonding would reduce the volume and quality of my hair.
Don't I look more like a preschool teacher now? Prim and proper with a little extra umph!
In order to maintain this current look, Ken gave me some advice as to how to maintain my hair:
Excited to try this out? If you need more convincing, @peggy.eyes did her treatment in May and achieved a natural look too!
