7 Stylish Hairstyles and Outfits from Korean Drama Vincenzo You Can Wear in Singapore

Published on Jun 14, 2021

The sixth highest-rated drama in tvN history and globally Netflix's Top 10, Vincenzo is the most talked about Korean drama of 2021 thus far. Song Joong Ki's riveting performance as a dark hero - an Italian mafia consigliere Vincenzo Cassano, together with newcomer Jeon Yeo Been as hotshot female lawyer Cha Young and a quirky cast peppering the series with comedic moments have enthralled not just us but also, audiences around the world.

While the story and acting play a huge part in keeping us riveted, the detail that the production put into the design of the outfits and hairstyles made each of the characters come alive. We couldn't help but notice Cha Young's gorgeous blazers along with Vincenzo's custom suits by "Booralro" and Joon Woo's curls. (For those of us who've watched "Suits", didn't Vincenzo remind you of Harvey Specter?)

We may not be lawyers nor be as rich as the characters in the story but some part of us still wonder if we can pull the same style in Singapore. If you're like us, read on to see some of our favourite hairstyles and outfits in Vincenzo we're looking to emulate in Singapore.

Cha Young

In the very first episode, Cha Young caught our attention with her power skirtsuit that seems to accentuate her slim figure while looking entirely professional.

If you don't already know, this suit is created by Korean haute couture brand Jay Baek and has been worn by a number of K-pop stars. The price on the website indicates 1890000 KRW, which would set you back by about $2,300 SGD.

Another of her skirt-suit that caught our eye is this outfit from Avouanou The wrap-style midi-length skirt is made from high-quality, stretchy crepe materials that creates a beautiful silhouette across Cha Young's body line. The website doesn't seem to state the price but guess what, we found it on Taobao.

Bad news is that the skirt itself cost 620 SGD and the top, 1,200 SGD. We found other alternatives selling on Taobao at just $100+ sgd but really, we aren't sure of its quality given the low number of reviews right now.

Two of our other favourites in the show are from Lynn.

This Double-button Modern Dress from Lynn cost about 3 times cheaper at 878 sgd.

The pink blazer itself, on the other hand, will cost 658 USD or 870 sgd.

Clothes aren't the only thing that caught our attention of course. Cha Young's Sleek S curl waves fit the feisty yet brainy hotshot lawyer look in Vincenzo to a tee. Whether she is thrown in jail for a night or drinking overnight with Vincenzo, her hair never fails to make her look glamorous and put together.

We all know that she has an army of stylists to make her look that way but popular Korean stylist Ted from LeeKaJa Korean Hair Salon says that we can achieve it too... via a perm of course.

You know, Singapore is very humid. So for my customers in SG, I always recommend Magic Setting S-Curl Perm as it rebonds the top section of the hair to keep it easily manageable but adds soft waves in a natural wavy hair in the mid section for that extra glam and volume.
Ted from Leekaja Korean Hair & Beauty Salon

For that extra oomph, Ted advises us to consider a root perm as it adds volume to the crown subtly.

Here're more examples of how a magic setting perm by LeeKaJa Korean Hair Salon.

Throughout the series, Vincenzo wears a collection of sleek suits that add to his image as a mafia consigliere in the show. Among our favourite is this gray pinstriped piece.

This stylish set comes from SYSTEM, a Korean fashion brand that was popularised by BTS. A similar looking set from them on this website will set you back $484.3 USD or about $642 SGD. We found a cheaper alternative on ASOS that’s currently on sale for $61.7 SGD (retails for $222.33 SGD)

Of course, in Singapore's climate, options for outerwear are few and far between, especially with current travel restrictions (Goodbye, coats and jackets). That’s why for men it’s important to invest in good accessories, and nothing says class as much as a nice watch.

The Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Open is a chic timepiece that is sure to elevate any outfit with its tricolour design and intricately crafted interior. At $13,100 SGD from Zenith Watches, it is most definetely a purchase worth holding on to.

Another thing that shouldn’t be overlooked is the powerful impression good loungewear makes as WFH becomes more common. Check out this look from Vincenzo:

This Black Iris Pajama Set will set you back around $641 SGD off-sale, which is… probably not worth it for something only you will be seeing most nights. Here’s a cheaper one from Taobao at just 30 SGD.

You are only as good as your last haircut.

Beyond clothes and accessories, hairstyle is the next thing Joong Ki nailed in Vincenzo. His slicked back hair in most scenes is timeless and suits most professional occasions in Singapore.

While this hairstyle may seem easy to achieve, it may not actually be that simple for many Singaporean men whose stiff hair grows outwards, creating a puffy messy look.

David Hyunwoo from LeeKaJa Korean Hair Salon shares that one simple trick that Korean men and celebrities often use in that situation is the down-perm.

When you have hair like that, a down-perm is ideal as it relaxes your hair and makes it easier for you to style it downwards for a sleeker professional look.

To give you an example of what he means, David did a makeover for Agent G who looks more polished immediately after the downperm!

Jang Joon-Woo

The ever-so-inconspicuous villain in this story, Jang Joon Woo oscillates between an endearing intern attorney and a ruthless sociopath who had no qualms killing people for ambition or amusement. To reflect Joon Woo's character evolution into the perfect villian, Joon Woo's stylist revealed that softer aesthetics were used with knits accompanying a striped tie at the beginning of the series compared to the darker, modern suit towards the end.

For those of you who fancy Joon Woo's casual style on Vincenzo, consider adding this versatile sweater to your wardrobe. Whether you're working in an air-conditioned office or just hoping to spice up your outfit, layering on a coat can make a huge impact to the overall look.

If constantly cycling between the standard navy blue and gray blazers sounds boring to you, consider the brown blazer for a more chic and unique look.

Although a less versatile piece in your arsenal, a beige or brown blazer depending on your skin type may add a softer touch to your look and help you stand out on first impressions. If you aren’t looking to break the bank here, try this jacket from Uniqlo which is on sale for $49.90 SGD (retails for $79.90 SGD). It can be dressed up or down for multiple occasions.

If you fancy a more formal suit like the Joon Woo wears closer to the end, we recommend that you look at tailors to customize a suit for you.

A suit looks great because it fits the wearer perfectly to bring out his best. If you need any recommendations though, we recently had a great experience with online tailor Urban Dappers that offers quality suits at relatively lower prices!

Clothing aside, curly hair was definitely a defining feature for Joon Woo.

Ok Taecyeong acknowledges that most CEOs in Korea do not sport curly hair but it was an intentional styling decision to give the character an unpredictability and unexpectedness in terms of visuals.

As Rina, top Korean stylist in LeeKaJa Korean Hair Salon reveals, she absolutely agrees.

Curls add an unpredictability and a distinctive personality that intrigues us women. So if you're looking to up your sexiness and style, a men's perm is a must!

Well, she would know, given that Rina has done so many men's perms in the past.
