Top StylistatCOVO Japanese Hair Salon @ Boat Quay
Yasu looks a little shy and quiet at first glance but look beyond that and you'll find a gem of a stylist within. He doesn't just take the effort to understand more about your needs and preferences, the very logical Yasu will explain exactly what is necessary to achieve your desired hairstyle. As someone who is very strong in his hair theory, Yasu is able to offer multiple routes to get to your ultimate aim, taking into consideration not just your final look but also your budget, time constraint and patience. This is something he learned while being trained at a top academy in Japan where he was involved in not just hair design but also frequent photoshoots that gave him a strong sense of aesthetics.
Of all the services, we think that Yasu is possibly strongest with hair colour. He has after all worked as a colourist in one of Japan's most popular salon chains and his outlet was located close to a university. This allowed Yasu to gain a sizable following among students, which makes him especially sensitive towards latest hair colour trends. Whether grayge, unicorn, beige or ash balayage, Yasu is familiar with them all and are able to achieve instagram-worthy hairstyles at the end of the session.
Despite his impressive credentials, we love how Yasu remain humble and am particularly smitten with how thoughtful he is throughout the hair experience. There is still room for improvement with regards to his command of English language but we're certain that once he get a good grasp of the language, Yasu will become a Top Stylist in no time.
P.S. Yasu loves travelling and has backpacked around the world from America to Australia and Europe, where he rediscovered his passion for hairdressing. Ask him for travel tips if you're keen on finding out how to travel so many places on a shoestring budget!
